Love In Action

“For God SO LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16 NKJV

God showed and proved His great love in action for you and me FIRST.  Yes, HE FIRST LOVED US (1 John 4:19 NKJV).  I believe He ordained it to be that way so you and I can possibly do the same towards Him and towards mankind knowing that we were created according to His image and likeness.  Our identity gave us the capacity to love like Him.

When Jesus came, He didn’t come to point an accusing finger against the woman caught in adultery.  Instead, “when Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, Lord.”  And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” (John 8:10-11 NKJV)

When Jesus saw Zacchaeus up on a tree, He didn’t call him a thief.  Instead, He said, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”  So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. (Luke 19:5-6 NKJV)

There are a lot more stories of Jesus healing the sick, setting free those who were oppressed by the devil, raising the dead, etc etc … for the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him because He has anointed Him.  The anointing in Jesus’ life empowered Him to powerfully demonstrate what love looks like.  Whether He stopped for one or a multitude, it really didn’t matter.

Jesus didn’t come to accuse us but He came to make things right what’s wrong in our lives.  He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10 NIV).  He did not come to call the righteous, but sinners [who recognize their sin and humbly seek forgiveness] (Mark 2:17 AMP).  I love what The Message translation of what Jesus said ..”I’m here INVITING the sin-sick, not the spiritually-fit.”   He never had any other agenda but to woo us into the loving arms of the Father, welcoming and never condemning, accepting and never rejecting, bringing us closer and never pushing us away.  His goodness is an invitation to our salvation which is to save, help in distress, rescue, deliver, set free, heal and make us whole and complete.

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, His one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in Him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust Him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to Him.”  John 3:16-18 MSG

When the love of God is EXPERIENTIALLY REVEALED to us, from faith to faith, we get filled with His love until it floods out and overflows.  What God initiated, we have been wired to do the same.  We are no different!  But for us to walk in love, His grace is imperative and His strength is a necessity.  Apart from Him we can do nothing!  But with Him and in Him, we are unstoppable to be carriers of the glory of His love until the whole earth is filled with His goodness as the waters cover the sea.

Why not start now?  Why not start small?  Do not despise small beginnings.  If love means only to smile at one person in front of you, why not?

Why not use every opportunity to shine to for Jesus!

Why  not use every opportunity to be a light?

Why not use every opportunity to bless someone?

Why not use every opportunity to encourage someone?

Why not use every opportunity to pray for someone?

Why not use every opportunity to show the world that Jesus is your Lord?

Little things matter!  We are to demonstrate the love of God with the way we live our everyday lives to illustrate that JESUS IS ALIVE in us, only made possible not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God.
