Unboxing God’s Unparalleled Goodness

”God’s love is meteoric, His loyalty astronomic, His purpose titanic, His verdicts oceanic. Yet in His largeness nothing gets lost; Not a man, not a mouse, slips through the cracks.“  (Psalm 36:5-6 MSG)

If we look all around us with eyes to see, ears to hear and hearts to received the implanted Word of God, nothing in this world exists apart from Him, may it be the vastness of the ocean or the smallest particle of an element.  The verse above mentions His character in all superiority, yet, in His immensity, He zeroes in on us who are the apple of His eye, both individually and corporately as a church.

The Lord our God is mighty and strong in every way that no foe can come against His power.   He parted the Red Sea.  He made the walls of Jericho tumble down. He ceased violent storms.  He multiplied food before the multitude’s eyes.  Yet, in His greatness and being the Almighty God, He touches our hearts like no other that no amount of opposition can talk us out of our intimate encounter with Him that changes and transforms us.

He is so ever mindful of us, both in our great need and in seemingly insignificant ones.  He is our ever present help that comes from above and is rich to those who call upon His Name.

He is forever involved in our every step.  When we wake up each morning, hearing the tweeting of birds calls our attention to worry not.  The piercing of the rays of the sun brings smile to our faces with His new mercies each day, full of hope and awesome wonder.  The refreshing wind that blows through our hair makes us aware that Someone Great is watching over us, invisible but affectionately tangible.  The savory smell of bacon from our neighbor’s kitchen reassures us that His provision is continually and consistently at hand.  And, there are yet a million and one more things we witness each day that point to the One Who is worthy of our praise and thanksgiving.

Many times, the easily recognizable ones are those that can never go unnoticed.  These are answered prayers of what we have been believing for and declaring to come to fruition, and the Lord never ceases to amaze us when the unboxing time comes.

For me, all these years, His faithfulness over my domestic and international travels have been undeniably wondrous.  How He does it always turns up for the books.  Who would have thought that before 2023 ended, I was brought to Hong Kong for an official business, and that, too, I travelled in business class?  Awesome is our God Who kept His promise that it is He Who will make me travel!  He has been sweeping off my feet each time.

Funny this may seem, but honestly, last year, a thought or a question to be precise came into mind when my cousins traveled abroad in business class.  “I wonder when I will be able to travel the same way?”  Hmmmm … little did I know that He took note of it and on that same year, the Lord made it happen.

“When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”  (Isaiah 60:22.)

How about those little secret desires that only the Lord knows?  Hmmmm.  Do you know that they made a greater impact to me when they got unfolded?  When I received a little box of Boursin Cheese and a Bath & Body Juniper Breeze Cologne for Christmas gifts in which both were unknown to men just astounded me.  I was not the only one, as the recipient, got stunned, but the giver as well.  These encounters made me more confident that the Lord our God is always on a lookout not just for our needs but also for our desires.  He is our Heavenly Father Who owns everything in this world that we live in, and as the One Who greatly loves us, do you think He will withhold anything from us, unless it would hinder us from fulfilling our divine destinies?

“He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?”  (Romans 8:32)

How about you?  Have you thought and listed down your testimonies when you saw how great and faithful the Lord our God is?  You see, after some time, when you go through your journal, you will see how He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.  It would be more than just an ordinary book as those were supernaturally manifested proof of Who He is to you, the One Who loves you most, and who you are to Him as the object of His affection and attention.  With these, your heart will be bursting out with joy unspeakable, full of glory.

Hmmmm … the greatest one on my list thus far was something unequalled and unheard of, at least for me.   In one of my fellowship meetings, someone close to me gave me half a dozen of Oral B Dental Flosses imported from Canada.  Yes, you read it right!  Dental Flosses!

You see, for the past months, I have been forgetting to get one from the supermarket.  It always slipped out of my mind maybe because I have not run out of it yet.  I still have one last piece that I am using.  It’s just that I did not want to come to a point of having none at hand when it is finished.  But, you see, even in my forgetfulness, Someone was about to disclose His mindfulness of me in a very surprising and loving way.   He did it in a way that I was astonished.

When my eyes lit up upon seeing it, my friend was equally dumbfounded at my response.  It was way beyond what I could dare dream, think or imagine.  It was an out of this world experience that gained the top spot of His careful consciousness of me.

By the time they were handed to me, my uncalculated reaction was … I took it by my hand and held it close to my heart …  hahaha!  It felt like a treasure was unboxed before my very eyes.

Simple this may seem, but the greater purpose was then revealed when my friend asked me, “How do you do that? How come your hidden desires get answered?” An open door was right before me to share the goodness of our God.

Every time we witness God’s unparalleled goodness, our focus gets intensified. In our journey with Him, intimacy is built and trust is deepened, until we come to a point where our lives are no longer about where we are going, but Who we are going with that matters most.

As we grow in the revelation knowledge of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit resident in us, we also come to explore and experience how all-knowing He is.  There is nothing that we keep in our hearts that He does not know of, thus, pretense in His Presence is considered unwise.  He knows us more than we know ourselves and as we yield to His will and His leading, we become more intimately entwined with Him, until our hearts beat in time like His, until His will becomes our will enthralled in His love.  When that time comes, nothing will be impossible to us who believe in the One with Whom ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.  By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”  (John 15:7-8)

Just like the disciples whom Jesus called to follow Him, we are called to do the same.  As they were immersed in that lifestyle in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they tasted and seen how good He is.  They were exposed to the impossibilities made possible, the logical made illogical, things that can never be grasped by human intellect.  With us, He issued the same invitation with the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, the Spirit of God and of the Son.  He is God on earth to manifest the will of God in and through us.  He will implement the reality of heaven on earth through our prayers, petitions and intercessions, with unveiled divine revelation of His Word.

Indeed, we cannot put God in a box with the way we desire to experience Him.  He is sovereign.  He is all-powerful.  He is all-knowing.  He is ever-present.  Everything that He does for us and through us are expressions of how deeply loved we are and how excessively aware He is of us.

”Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. EVERYTHING WAS CREATED THROUGH HIM AND FOR HIM.”  (Colossians 1:1516 NLT)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing us to come to know and experience how loved we are by You, as Your love is being abundantly poured within our hearts by the Holy Spirit Whom You have given us.  Thank You, Jesus, for making it possible for us to be in seamless and unceasing peace by the power of Your shed Blood that made us continuously justified in spite of our imperfections, infusing us with boldness and confidence to come before Your throne and be well welcomed, cared, heard and answered.  Holy Spirit, have Your way in us.  Lead us in the way that we should go that will give glory and honor to the Lord, Savior and King Jesus.  Amen!
