Revelation knowledge of the Word of God brought forth by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in us always transforms us from faith to faith, from strength to strength from glory to glory. It is when we divinely perceive beyond the letters of His Word as we fellowship with the Holy Spirit we find life, “for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life”. (2 Corinthians 3:6)
Every word that we receive by faith from Him profits us. It takes our roots go deeper, drawing nourishment from Him alone, for “man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).
Constant and consistent communication with the ones we are in relationship with is vital. We grow closer. We deepen our connection. We build a stronger relationship and become more intimately connected with. We become intentional.
Do you know that when we turn our attention and affection toward our Lord Jesus, we always find Him waiting? Ohh … I always do and how it warms my heart each time. His Word says He is with us always (Matthew 28:20). He is Christ IN US the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). His eyes run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). He knocks at the door of our hearts desiring to fellowship with us, to dine and commune with us (Revelation 3:20). He delights to tells us things that no eye has seen nor ear heard nor mind can conceive what He has prepared for us who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9). He longs to love on us and reveal things to us that we may come to know of His will.
“The God of our forefathers has destined and appointed you to come progressively to know His will [to perceive, to recognize more strongly and clearly, and to become better and more intimately acquainted with His will], and to see the Righteous One (Jesus Christ, the Messiah), and to hear a voice from His [own] mouth and a message from His [own] lips; For you will be His witness unto all men of everything that you have seen and heard.” (Acts 22:14 AMPC)
I sat down one morning beside my bay window and opened my Bible to this verse, “Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.” (Romans 13:14)
I stopped and asked, “How do I put You on, Lord?
He said, (with the unction from deep within me) “Put on the full armor of God” (Ephesians 6:11-17).
There may be numerous ways of putting Him on, but at this point in time, this was what was spoken to me.
Then, I started to go through the verses in Ephesians 6:10-18.
** Put on the helmet of Salvation. “The Lord is my Light and my Salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)
Hmmm … that means when I put that helmet on, my mind is protected from the wiles, accusations and schemes of the enemy that could possibly bombard my mind with thoughts that are contrary to my identity of being IN CHRIST. Then, I shall not worry nor fear. In darkness, Jesus is my Light. When I am in need, Jesus is my Savior Who is always there to save me.
When we put on that helmet, I put on the mind of Christ.
** Put on the breastplate of Righteousness. “In His days Judah shall be saved and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is His name by which He shall be called: The Lord Our Righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6).
God gave us the gift of righteousness and the abundance of grace IN CHRIST that we may reign in life as kings. His righteousness is our righteousness that is unearned, undeserved and unmerited. It is never by our performance, but by our position that the finished work of Jesus Christ procured and secured for us.
Our confidence in our righteousness in Christ makes us bold to come into His presence knowing that we have full access to His throne.
“When we establish ourselves in righteousness (rightness, in conformity with God’s will and order): you and I shall be far from even the thought of oppression or destruction, for we shall not fear, and from terror, for it shall not come near us (Isaiah 54:14 AMPC).”
When we put on that breastplate, IN CHRIST we are pure and blameless, with right thoughts, right words, right desires, and at the right place at the right time doing the right thing with the right heart.
** Put on the shield of faith. He gave each one of us a measure of faith that is the God kind of faith where nothing is impossible. It is all up to us to exercise it at every opportunity.
This life that we live by the faith of the Son of God Who loves us is a victorious one and this shield of faith is designed to extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one aimed to defeat us.
The just shall live by faith. It is our faith that reaches out to receive what the grace of God has made available for us. We receive His promises by faith. We receive healing and provision by faith. When we walk in the reality of our faith, manifestations come.
We feed our faith by hearing and hearing His Word. The more we hear, the more we get fortified. To be doers of what we heard Him speak to us is what puts the enemy’s voice to mute and struggles to cease.
When we put on that sheild, we are strong in Him and in the power of His mighr.
** Put on the belt of Truth buckled around our waist. “Jesus is the Way, the TRUTH and the Life (John 14:6)”. No one comes to the Father except through Him. When we get rooted and grounded on the truth of His Word, everything else bows down to Him.
What we see in our circumstances are temporal. It means they are subject to change. If we do not like what we are seeing, it is up for a shift by the authority and dominion He has bestowed upon us when we are IN CHRIST. That is truth. And when we believe, receive and speak the implanted Word of God, it subdues everything else in our lives that is in opposition to His word.
When we put that belt on, His Word is His Word becomes our plumb line. He is our Lord Jesus Who is our final authority and has the last say and it is always in victory.
** Put on the sandals of Peace. Jesus is the Price of Peace. His very presence believed and acknowledged in our lives makes our hearts still.
When we know and are fully persuaded that we are temples of the Holy Spirit Who is the Spirit of Peace Himself, we get to be peacemakers. When we carry His peace, we exude peace.
When we put on those sandals the oeace of God rules and reigns in our hearts.
** Put on the sword of our spirit which is His Word, a double-edged one that discerns the thoughts and intents of our hearts. It is our spiritual offensive weapon.
There may be times when a fiery arrow of the enemy hits us. With its arrowhead fabricated to penetrate in such a way that cannot be easily pulled out as it creates significant friction, a tool may be necessary. His Word, with its sharp double edges can be utilized as a scalpel that can loosen the arrowhead’s grip to be released. In addition, it is His Word that brings healing and wholeness to our wounded souls.
As His Word is to us, we can speak His Word the same way to those who are broken around us that they, too, may be made whole.
When we put on and use that sword, we are allowing the active, living and powerful Word of God to dwell in our hearts richly.
** We pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Praying in the Spirit allows us to intimately fellowship and connect with Him to know His thoughts, His ways and His will strongly and clearly. And it is His grace that empowers us to walk in them.
Finally, He said, “PUT ON LOVE”. “Above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” (Colossians 3:14)
God is love! To put on the Lord Jesus Christ is to put on Love Personified in Christ.
In the Kingdom of God, nothing works apart from His Love for He is Love Himself.
Our Salvation is because of His great Love for us.
Our Righteousness is bought by His Love through His Blood.
Our Faith works by Love.
The Truth is validated by His Love.
Peace can only be attained when we know how much we are deeply loved by Him.
The sword of our spirit which is the Word was spoken because of Love.
The effectiveness of praying in the Spirit is when we are filled with His love.
“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:1-8)
The secret of putting on the Lord Jesus Christ Who is Love personified is to first and foremost be filled and flooded with His own love as the Holy Spirit pours it into our hearts. Until we believe how much He loves us and receive His love for us, we cannot put Him on and spend His love on others.
God demonstrated His own love for us in this: While we were still sunners, while we were yet of no use to Him, Christ died for us. It emphasizes that God’s love is proactive and unconditional, given not based on human merit or worth, but while humanity was still sinful and estranged from Him. He gave us hope that never disappoints, Christ in us, Who is the Hope of Glory. In Him we are set to have a confident expectation of His goodness to manifest in our lives because of His great love.
This is the beauty of His love that He gave His own life for us so that we may become partakers of His divine nature of Love. Our old life is dead and gone and our new life is now hidden, enmeshed with the Anointed who is in God, Who is Love.
To live our lives that matter is to owe no one but love. It is not by our own might nor by our own power, but by the Spirit of the Living God resident in us.
“Owe no man anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor [who practices loving others] has fulfilled the Law [relating to one’s fellowmen, meeting all its requirements].” (Romans 13:8 AMPC)
Love expressed is always superior.
“By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13;35)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us first while we were still sinners. It is Your amazing love that made us righteous and holy by the power of the Blood of the Lamb and made us new creations in Christ. Jesus, thank You for coming to save us, transforming us from being sinners to saints, all by Your grace that we receive through faith. By this, we may have and enjoy life in abundance, to the full, till it overflows to others. Holy Spirit, thank You for never failing to fill and flood our hearts with our Father’s love that keeps us in exceeding joy and overwhelming peace forever. Amen!
