Every challenge that we face in life is an opportunity for us to grow in our knowledge of Him. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” He paid the FULL price, overcame every obstacle, and made His victory over every circumstance available for us to partake in. It was a “ONCE and FOR ALL” conquest for our spirits, souls and bodies. Nothing was left unattended or unsettled—so complete was His work that even the ultimate opposition lost its sting at His resurrection, conquering hell, death, and the grave forevermore.
Therefore, our life’s journey is one of discovery—of who He is, what He has done, the inheritance He has freely given, and the exceeding greatness of His power at work in us—so that we may walk worthy of the price He paid to redeem us.
The world is full of suggestions and opinions that have given rise to deception and confusion of Who God is. Everywhere we turn, we hear multiple voices that fight for our attention and affection about our very own identity. The noise is so expansive that if we do not learn to guard our eyes and ears as gateways to the reservoir of our hearts, we find ourselves standing on sinking sand, nothing concrete, nothing firmly founded, leaving our values and beliefs susceptible to disintegration.
Thanks be to God Who always causes us to triumph in Christ Jesus. He gave us His Word that is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12). It is His Word that makes us certain what is TRUTH and it is our knowledge of the truth that sets us free (John 8:32).
One of the revelations that I have been meditating on these past few weeks is how God busies Himself with our every step.
“The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].” (Psalm 37:23 AMPC)
You and I are never alone. His ever-present Presence indwells us. “How can we be sure that He truly lives in us and that we truly live in Him? By one fact: He has given us His Spirit.” (1 John 4:13 Voice) and His Spirit abides in us forever.
He promised that He is in our midst always and our acknowledgement of Him through our willful and faithful obedience to Word and His leading delights Him. Our heightened awareness of His presence, and our being yoked with Him, posture us in ease and security.
I asked Him once, “Lord, how do You busy Yourself with my every step?” With pure unction from deep within me, He said, “I do not lead you from the outside like a GPS directing you where to go. You and I are one because My Spirit lives in you. My heartbeat you will hear when you intentionally listen to My voice that comes from My own very mouth and My message that comes from My own very lips. My grace is sufficient with your every step. When you get off My ordained track, My mercy gets activated and woos you back to Myself.”
The Lord does not give us the full map of where He is taking us. Just like when the Israelites were in the wilderness, they didn’t know where they were heading next, which route to take. But, God gave them His presence to lead them.
“By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.” (Exodus 13:21-22)
If He was with them to lead them in the old covenant externally, how much more now in the new covenant that is established on better promises, Him being with us and leading us internally, Christ in us, the Hope of Glory.
Enoch having lived in fellowship with God and in constant touch with God (Genesis 5:24) is one God-story that always warms my heart every time I think of it. God took him away and disappeared without trace. I thought that Enoch’s intimacy with God may have been so profound that the distinction between earthly and heavenly existence no longer applied to him. Hmmmm ….
Living mindful of and dwelling in HIS PRESENCE truly is one thing we are to desire and that which we must seek, just as David did. Then, we get to enjoy all the daily loaded benefits, the riches in glory of the inheritance of the saints and the exceeding greatness of His power at work in us, for it is He Who is all the while effectually at work in us, energizing us, creating in us the power and desire both to will and to do for His own pleasure, delight and satisfaction.
Know this TRUTH when God said, “My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest … I will give you success … and I will see your journey to the end in glory.” (Exodus 33:14 NKJV, TLB, MSG)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for always being mindful of how much You desire to be in our very midst allowing us to gain access to Your secrets that are only revealed in Your presence. Thank You, Jesus, that all of God that is in a human body holds true in Your body, so that through our union with You, we are filled with God’s presence. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for continually pouring in revelation after revelation of what it means for us to be in Christ. The knowledge of this truth may be inexhaustible, but surely You are taking us from faith to faith, from glory to glory, withholding nothing from us, as we earnestly and continually ask, seek and knock. Amen!
Discovery is adventure.
