Our life is a beautiful adventure, forever discovering Who God made us to be. Sometimes we think we already know His will at a particular time, only to know that we haven’t scratched the surface yet. He is full of surprises and set up encounters that makes us wake up every morning with an expectant heart saying, “What’s next Papa?”
This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance! We go through exactly what Christ goes through. If we go through the hard times with him, then we’re certainly going to go through the good times with him! (Romans 8:15-17 MSG)
When things don’t go the way we expect them to be, anticipate His holy interruption! Surely He’s got His thoughts and plans already laid out before us. Knowing Who He is, our good, good Father, SURELY and ONLY His goodness will pursue us all the days of our lives. Our knowledge of Him and of our Lord Jesus Christ causes grace and peace be multiplied in our lives. The truth of Who He is and trusting on His very nature puts our minds to rest that empowers us to live life filled with hope, our confident expectation that His goodness is at hand at all times. They may not come packaged in a colorful box but even unbeautifully wrapped gifts always have ways of surprising us.
I was believing for a miracle of provision for my US trip when we had a family reunion in 2015. Not only was I pressing in for provision but more so the approval of my leave for I was over my quota. My only hope is in Him and my only help comes from Him. Yet in the midst of all, peace that surpassed all understanding guarded my heart and mind in Christ. All i know is that ALL things are possible with God and nothing is impossible to those who believe.
When the holy interruption came after I got an approved unpaid leave, I inquired of Him, “What’s next, Papa?” Hmmmm … Yes, I waited upon the Lord. I was worshiping and meditating on His word while waiting. I took a 2-hour trip in a hydrofoil to get away with Him to seek Him, seek His will, seek what’s next. When I reached the place, I sat down and enjoyed the beach view asking Him to open my eyes to see Him move.
Then, I opened the book that I brought with me and saw the verse that my heart knew beyond a shadow of a doubt was “the promise”. The words felt like they jumped off of the page. Yes, I finally caught it and yes, it did put a big smile on my face.
On my way home, I was seated by the window. In the middle of the trip, I saw a beautiful rainbow. I’m always fascinated by rainbows. It always has a deep effect in me every time I see one. I was staring at it expecting for it to fade away in a few minutes but it didn’t. It stayed long. Surprised as I could be, while my eyes were still focused on it, I had a strong impression in my heart, “what He promised, He is faithful to do it.” The rainbow was the manifested message. Thank You, Jesus. I was in high spirits for the rest of the day.
The following day, someone blessed me with a partial amount of my fare. Aha! The blessings started pouring! But, another holy interruption came when the Holy Spirit led me to sow the full amount that I received to purchase an all-expense paid trip for a specific couple. Without hesitation, I said, “Yes, Lord!” Little did I know that they were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. The Lord was on a lookout on how to bless them, on how to lavish them with His love. How beautiful it was to behold.
Now, before my physical eyes, I was back to zero, but my heart was full of hope! To be strong in the Lord and in power of His might, we need to learn to direct our eyes to see the truth, the truth of His promise. We walk by faith and not by sight until the fulfilled promise manifests before our very eyes.
A couple of days later, I inquired again and my heart was geared towards booking a flight by faith banking on what I perceived what His leading. And yes, I booked my flight without hesitation.
Waiting is the most challenging part. But one thing I have learned is that when we allow our eyes to go to and fro, where, when and through whom the answer will flow, it will cause our hearts to be anxious. Yes, we are to be expectant for our expectations are landing strips for our breakthroughs to land, but our expectancy should be from Him alone. We can keep our focus on Him by thanksgiving, praise and worship. When we start thanking and praising Him for all the great things that He has done, He is doing and He is going to do, there is no way our focus will be on something or someone else. When we worship Him with ALL of our hearts for Who He is, there is no room for others and everything else fades away in the light of His presence.
“My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my expectation is from Him.” (Psalm 62:5)
Holy interruption is always God’s agenda. There are countless, significant, unique stories in the bible. When the three Hebrew men who were Daniel’s friends were arrested for not serving the king’s gods or worship the gold image which he has set up, they were due to be put in the fiery furnace. When the king asked, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up? (Daniel 3:14) I sooooo love how they responded. “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.” (Daniel 3:16-18) Oh what mountain-moving faith they had. No compromises!
The king was in full fury and ordered that the fiery furnace be heated seven times more than usual and that the three Hebrew men had to be bound in their coats, their trousers, their turbans, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace and fell down bound.
Then, God’s holy interruption came when they saw something contrary to what they were expecting to see! “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” (Daniel 3:25)
Isn’t it amazing to see that their FREEDOM happened WHILE they were still in the midst of the fiery furnace? They were seen to be LOOSED as they saw Jesus, our Savior King, said to be the Son of God in the verse, Who was with them. What an awesome revelation indeed. This implies that our awareness of Jesus being with us while we are in the midst of the going through, freedom is available and at hand. Truly whom the Son sets FREE is FREE indeed.
When Nebuchadnezzar called out for them, they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them. When Jesus said He has overcome the world, deprived it of its power to harm us and have conquered it for us, He did it to the three Hebrew men. How much more now that we have a better covenant with better promises?
Back to my own testimony, five days of waiting upon the Lord, I got a surprise call from a friend. It was a glorious holy interruption indeed. She asked for the full amount of my fare and said, “I’ll give you a check with the full amount in it.”
If we were to look back, what seemed to be “zeroed” before my physical eyes when He led me to give the partial amount that was given to me was a “full amount” in HIS eyes. Who can out give the One Who owns the cattle and a thousand hills? Who can minimize His greatness, His goodness, His mercy, His grace and His love? No one!
Our divine life has boundless possibilities, limitless power and exceeding, untold, inexhaustible resources IN CHRIST Who paid it all once and for all, that we may constantly experience the elevated manifestations of our faith, not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You, for giving us Jesus Who is Emmanuel, God with us. Jesus, thank You, for sending us the Holy Spirit to abide in us forever. Your presence is heaven to us that fills and floods our hearts with Your love and impregnates our atmosphere with righteousness, peace and joy. Thank You for causing holy interruptions in our lives that are invitations for us to come to know you in a deeper way and walk with you in a higher way. Amen!
