“In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on ALL people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” (Acts 2:17)
We all have our own paths to take and our own unveiled revelations to walk on. Many of us see visions and dream dreams. To each his own according to the gift that God has deposited in our hearts. But what do we do when someone sees visions or have dreams about us?
Hmmmm … as for me, I am very quick to believe because I am a believer of His Word. How I respond to what people see in visions about me is just one way. I go in into the secret place where He Who knows ALL things dwells and inquire of Him.
“Call to Me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
The visionary may have a different meaning on what he or she sees, but one thing that is of vitality for me is that it must resonate inside my heart what has been seen and spoken. It must conform to that of which is within me and confirm what the Lord has revealed to me.
Moreso, the timing in the unfolding of such vision lies in the sovereignty of our Creator. It is He Who knowns the end from the beginning. He knows that in such a time as this, the vision needs to be disclosed.
When I attended this year’s Hillsong Conference in Sydney, in one of the sessions, I happened to sit beside a very young Asian missionary, who was as bold as a lion. Oh yes! How I admired his passion to reach the lost in South Africa. In a very short span of time, he told me about his trainings and travels. I was truly overwhelmed by his fiery desire to serve in God’s kingdom. With all honesty, I “holy” envied his confidence that drove me to ask him to pray for me.
Right away, he held my hands and started to speak words of wisdom that pierced my heart. When he was done, I simply whispered to myself, “Oh wow, Lord, nothing just happens. For me to be seated next to this young man was indeed a “Kairos” moment. Thank You, Jesus.”
A few seconds later, he told me that he saw a vision while he was praying. Of course, I wouldn’t let him go without telling me what he saw 🙂 I asked him to write it down and this was what he wrote.
“Sail boat with large sails. Cast your sails wide and open to catch the wind of God and He will drive you far!” Ohhh wow … thank You, Jesus.
From then on, I kept inquiring of the Lord what it meant. How do I hoist my sail? Is there anything that I need to do? Yes, I was very puzzled because the day before that, in that same conference, someone came up to me and said, “I believe you are to enroll in Hillsong Bible College.” Hmmmm …. but how? My minute mind just could not compute what I heard. Mind you, more question marks where floating in my mind until I told myself …. stop thinking – stop planning! Wait upon the Lord, hear Him speak and rest in His presence where His secrets will be revealed, for it is He Who will direct your steps.
Almost everyday, I would inquire of Him, “how do I cast my sail to catch Your wind?” I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that one day He will answer this question. As I have previously said, I am a believer of His Word that not a tittle or a dot will fall to the ground without it being fulfilled.. “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7 NLT)
Yes, the day has finally come when He started to turn the lock of the door and slightly opened it for me to see a glimpse of it. Knowing Him, He will never allow us to see the BIG picture. He will only show us what our heart is ready to receive.
As I was praying one morning and asked Him the same question, I saw a vision of a person raising a white flag as a sign of surrender. Ohhhh … so this is what it means to hoist my sail.
To surrender, a believer completely gives up his own will and subjects his thoughts, ideas and deeds to the will, word and teachings of the one he believes in who is of a higher power. For me, it is a willful acceptance and submission, yielding to the One Who is Lord of all, Jesus.
As the white flag is raised, it is a protective sign symbolizing surrender, unarmed with an intention to submit and obey, and having a desire to communicate with a promise of safety and security.
When we submit ourselves to the Lord of lords and King of kings, Jesus, we are in a better covenant with better promises that there is NOW NO CONDEMNATION to those Who are in Christ Jesus. His lordship in our lives secures us a position of boldness and confidence before the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace in time of need, knowing that He will never leave us nor forsake us Who is always on a lookout for our welfare and benefit because of His great love for us.
As our faith in Christ grows, His love abounds much more in us until our hearts get to a point of being fully obedient to His will, where His plans and purposes get fulfilled.
“Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” (John 14:23)
It is the revelation of His perfect love for us that will cast ALL our fears away, the fear of the unknown, fear to step out of the boat, fear of failure, fear to be rejected and abandoned, fear to be ridiculed, fear to be persecuted, to name a few.
When our hearts are filled and flooded with the richest measure of His divine presence that we become His body wholly filled and flooded with HIMSELF, there will no longer be any room for fear. ONLY THEN, we can say, “Not my will, Lord, by Yours be done!”
This is when we cast our sails wide and open to catch His wind, His will, as He speaks to us, trusting Him completely to take us to where He destined us to be.
To study or not to study in Hillsong Bible College still remains a question. But if it is His will, nothing and no one can stop it. For the time being, I am deeply thankful to be in an online bible study, to know Jesus more and make Him known, as I await for the next move of His Spirit in my life.
Let us cast our sails wide and open to catch the wind of god and SURELY He will drive us FAR, above and beyond what we can dare, think, dream or imagine. We may not know what our future holds, but we put our trust and confidence on the One Who knows our future. He is an Omniscient God Who loves us deeply.
“For I know the thoughts and plans I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.” (Jeremiah 29:11 AMPC)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You, for always answering us when we inquire of You. Truly, You have set designated moments to reveal to us what has been freely given. Thank You, Jesus, that as we live and move and have our being in You, You allow us to see what You see and hear what You speak. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for leading us every step of the way and teaching us what needs to be taught that we may live each day with full expectation and confidence to say, “What’s next, Papa?”
