Watched Over!

“He will never let me stumble, slip, or fall. For He is always watching, never sleeping.”  (Psalm 121:4 TLB)

We are all a work in progress.  We are all discovering a new way everyday how to move and live and have our being in Him.  We are all gaining knowledge and understanding of how the Lord moves in our midst.  We are all learning how to heighten our awareness of His presence in our lives.  One of our vital purposes in life is to KNOW the One Who is the King of Kings and Lord of lords Who is so unceasingly mindful of us.

When Jesus said, “Behold, I Am with you always” (Matthew 28:20), it is a spiritual reality that remains the same forever regardless of what we see or how we feel.   His word says, “My presence will go with you and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).   This only means one thing, that He NEVER leaves us, let alone forsakes us.

Nothing violates His spoken word of promise except our own free will.  He loves us too much to forcefully impose Himself to us.  He desires to be acknowledged by our own choice and woos us into knowing what it is like to be the apple of His eye, His precious possession and the object of His affection.  What He longs for is to build this intimate relationship with us based on His great LOVE for us, demonstrated by the finished work of Jesus Christ and nothing else.

Just like Moses, I love asking our Heavenly Father to show me His glory and believe the very same way He answered him.  “Then He said, “I will make ALL My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” (Exodus 33:19)  Mind you, when He says ALL, that means ALL His goodness, for in Him there is nothing else He could show us apart from His goodness. He is good and that is Who He is.

I traveled to Seoul, Korea for the very first time with my sister.  Although everything was booked and ready before we left, everything about the trip is still yet to be unveiled.  The discovery of a certain place is in every step that we take.  We may have planned ahead of time, but being in the present is still the most pleasurable and enjoyable, at the same time with a bit of tension and apprehension of the unknown.

But God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love promised that He IS always with us, never forsaking us.  Our faith anchored on His promises that are yes and amen puts us to rest.  As we journey each day, He is always making Himself known to us.

In the middle of our flight going to Seoul, I had this incomprehensible anxiety in my heart.  It seemed like the Lord was stirring something but it was beyond the extent of my human intellect to comprehend.  The only way for me to stay on track was to pray in the spirit under my breath.

When we finally landed, my sister overheard a lady talking to a group of six people trying to convince them to take her and her boyfriend along with them in the van that was pre-booked before the flight.  Unfortunately, since the van can only accommodate seven passengers, she was graciously denied.  Knowing too that my sister and I did not have any pre-booked transportation from the airport, I started a conversation.  In that short chat, we realized that we were heading towards not just on the same direction but on the same area.  Our hotel was located just across the street where theirs was.   Oh wow!  Praise the Lord.  With Him, nothing just happens.  Everything happens for a divine purpose.

To cut the long story short, we managed to get a cab and eventually headed towards the heart of the city effortlessly.  How cool can it be that her boyfriend speaks the language fluently that amazingly stunned the driver?  It was fun to watch how the atmosphere inside the cab changed.

We reached our destination and the two were dropped off first.   Then, when it was our turn, the driver somehow could not find our hotel.  He stopped the car and checked the street corners so patiently while I was doing the same on the other side.  Finally a few minutes later, he managed to find the place.  Praise God!

Arriving in an unknown place at 1:30 in the morning was no joke.  But THANK GOD for sending us three angels at that point in time.   Such short experience indeed kindled our awareness of His presence in our midst reminding us that His presence is not passively passive but actively active.

At about 4:00 in the morning, I was awakened.  I got up and looked out from our little window and saw the moon shining brightly right straight into my very eyes.  Then, I heard a whisper in my heart, “I Am watching over you.”  Oh how the Lord’s presence melted my heart beyond comprehension.

Little happenings sometimes have the greatest impact in our lives at a given time and these testimonies remain engraved in our hearts forever.  In hindsight, who would have thought such was possible?  But God Who goes before us to straighten our paths and level our ways, making mountains low and raising valleys high, making roads in the wilderness and streams in the desert, making a way where there seems to be no way is our God Who watches over us and sees us with knowledge and compassion.

There may be times when our minds are so occupied by thoughts that are contrary to what He says in His word, but He still pursues us by going before us and allows us to witness before our very eyes HIS GOODNESS.  Truly it is His goodness that brings us to change the way we think about Him and about who we are in Him.  We have a choice.  In fact, we always have a choice but for our choices to lead us into a deeper and intimate relationship with Jesus, we need to re-align ourselves into the plumb line of what He has spoken and enjoy the benefits of having a renewed thinking that is according to His Word which has its glorious ability to perform itself when believed and received.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You, for opening our eyes to see You.  Oh how lovingly pursued we are of You.  Thank You, Jesus, for coming down from the heavenly realm just as so we can experience what it means to be loved by You.  Thank You, Holy Spirit, for leading us and choosing us to be Your resting place on the earth.  What an honor and privilege indeed to be always intertwined with Your presence.  Amen!
