The War Of Words

It is but of utmost importance for us to be aware that we are constantly exposed to the war of words?  Just merely look at social media.  No matter how good, great and noble a person has done, there will always be opposition that surfaces.  No one in this world is exempted, not even Jesus Christ, when He walked on earth.  He was ridiculed, yet His response was, “forgive them Father for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:24)

No wonder His Word always reminds us to “guard the affections of our hearts ABOVE ALL, for they affect all that we are.  We are to pay attention to the welfare of our innermost being, for from there flows the wellspring of life.” (Proverbs 4:23 TPT)

Thank God He gave us His word that are words of life.  Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

Even within ourselves, there is a constant and ongoing war of words that are trying to win its influence on us.  There is such an extraordinary abundance of words that are loosely released which people tend to casually speak having no regard of its consequence and effect in their lives.  Being unaware of such postures us into the wiles of the enemy.  He veils our eyes from the truth of how our words powerfully affect our lives.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.”  (Proverbs 18:21)

I love the MSG paraphrase of this verse.

“Words kill, words give life;
they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.”  (Proverbs 18:21)

But God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love gave us His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, Who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  He is the Word made flesh and dwelt among us.  His Name is the Word of God.  “He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is The Word of God.” (Revelation 19:13)  How then can we separate Jesus from the Word Who is The Truth?  How then can we find our way without knowing The Way? How then can we find life apart from knowing The Life?  God gave us His Word.

“Every scripture has been inspired by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God.  It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness.” (2 Timothy 3:16 TPT)

I was in a situation where the enemy had gotten hold of attacking my thoughts with what I have done.  Have you ever done things rightfully yet viewed by others otherwise?  I am pretty sure no one is exempted from this.  In my thoughts and in my heart, I did nothing wrong but words were literally spoken against me.  Hmmmm … how do we respond to this?

Praise God, the Holy Spirit got His grip on me and allowed me to see things differently.  He took my thoughts higher to see the person beyond the obvious.  He made me understand that people’s reactions are sometimes caused by their own pressures in life.  He enabled me to be gracious and empowered me to be well composed.  He taught me not to react to the situation but set my heart to respond to His leading.

He reminded me to keep my eyes on His word.  “Listen carefully, my dear child, to everything that I teach you, and pay attention to all that I have to say.  Fill your thoughts with My words until they penetrate deep into your spirit.  Then, as you unwrap my words, they will impart true life and radiant health into the very core of your being.” (Proverbs 4:20-22 TPT)

Oh it was not easy.  I was not delivered from such oppression speedily.  I continually pressed on and on for a couple of days seeking, searching, looking, longing and expecting for a “now” word of revelation that will totally set me free.  I knew there was a word waiting to be unveiled before my eyes.  I so believe on what Jesus said, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.  The words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life.” (John 6:63)

I woke up in the middle of the night and meditated on the book of Daniel and came to the part when he was brought and cast into the den of lions for praying to God and not bowing himself to pray to the king.  He was innocent before the eyes of God but the accusers found him guilty by not following the precepts of man.

God is faithful and delivered Daniel from the lions.

“My God sent His angel and shut the lion’s mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king I have done no wrong before you.  Now the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den.  So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and NO INJURY whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.” (Daniel 6:21-23)

As I was meditating on this, the Holy Spirit strongly impressed this in my heart.  “An angel has already been sent to you “for the Lord shall give His angels charge over you to keep you in all your ways” (Psalm 91:11), to shut the lion’s mouth.  He said, remember your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).  Because his mouth has been shut, therefore his voice is silenced.  Now magnify and turn up the volume of the Voice of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Jesus Christ, within you.  Know that you are loved.  You are the apple of His eye and whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye.  Run to Him, your Strong Tower, and you will be safe.  Incline your ear to what He is saying for His word is truth that renders the enemy voiceless and powerless.”  Hallelujah!

Thanks be to God who always causes us to win!!!  Who would have thought that the story of Daniel in the lion’s den would be the rhema word that He will use to deliver me.  In such instancy, my heart was silenced and healed.

“With passion I pursue and cling to you.  Because I feel your grip on my life, I keep my soul close to Your heart.” (Psalm 63:8 TPT)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You, for always watching over me day and night, night and day.  Truly You never sleep nor slumber and intimately sees me as the apple of Your eye.  Thank You, Jesus, for continually speaking words that are spirit that gives life.  Thank You, Holy Spirit, for revealing to me the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that is perfectly efficient and sufficient at all times. Amen!
