“Call to Me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.” (Jeremiah 33:3 MSG)
This is one of the most famous scriptures I have ever heard quoted by a lot of believers, but do we really call unto Him first and foremost? Do we really seek Him first? More often than not, we honestly don’t. Ouchhhh! A lot of times, we call to Him when everything that we know of doing is of no effect and we are at the end of the line. BUT, be of good cheer, we have God our Father Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love. He is a God of many chances and until we get it, LOVE is patient.
Towards the end of each year, I normally start asking the Lord for a word that He has for me for the next year. I press on to seek His face and hear His voice. This time, what I received by faith is an “open heaven”.
“After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven.” (Revelation 4:1)
When I was meditating on it, an “open heaven” means that we have direct access to His throne room in heaven by the power of the blood of Jesus Christ 24/7. It means we have full access to the secret place where His secrets are revealed. We can come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:1) As He said “ALL that I have is yours” means whatever has been made available in heaven, you and I can pull it down to manifest on the earth by faith. Then, I heard myself declaring, “I am a possessor!”
On Christmas day, I woke up and prayed. During communion I asked the Lord for a confirmation of the word that I received. When I was done praying, I looked around and noticed that the Christmas gifts that I received were still unopened, and so I started to unwrap them.
Lo and behold, one of them was a beautiful oil painting given by a very good friend of mine that perfectly matched the ones I have in my prayer/music room. Oh wow! I was thrilled. When I turned it over to read what was written at the back, this is what I saw.
Indeed 2019 is a Year of Possession for me!!! Glory to God!
The very next day, I received more words of confirmation.
When the Lord asked Moses to send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which He is giving to the people of Israel, Moses chose twelve of them. He sent them to go and see what the land is and whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, few or many, whether the land is good or bad, rich or poor.
After forty days of spying, they returned and brought back word to them how the land flows with milk and honey. However, the people who dwell in the land are strong and the cities are fortified and very large.
But Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, “Let us go up at once, and POSSESS it; for we are well able to OVERCOME it.” (Numbers 13:30)
Yet the men who had gone up with him said, “We are NOT able to overcome it for they are stronger than we.” (Numbers 13:31) In fact, they saw giants in there and saw themselves in their own sight as grasshoppers, and so they were in the giant’s eyes.
How vital it is to see who we are in Christ. How we see ourselves is how others will see us. Our mindsets need to align to what His word has spoken of us, otherwise the lies of the enemy is always on a lookout whomever he can devour.
Apart from Joshua and Caleb, the other spies saw the giants according to what they physically saw. But Joshua and Caleb had a different spirit that saw beyond the obvious. Their perspective came by their faith of what the Lord is ABLE and WILLING to do for them. Both of them believed on what God has already spoken and declared in the first place that He is GIVING the land to the people of Israel (Numbers 13:1).
To possess is not about possessing anything that we like to possess. It is all about what the Lord is enabling us TO HEAR and SEE what He has for us to possess. It is all about what Jesus purchased at the cross by the power of His blood and made things available for us. We are possessors of healing that He paid by the stripes in His body. We are possessors of righteousness that He paid by His blood. We are possessors of His divine nature, born to express LOVE, LOVE and LOVE to the ends of the earth. Whatever the Holy Spirit unveils our eyes to see what Jesus has paid in full for, we are able to possess.
The power behind our being possessors and overcomers is this:
“EVERYONE who BELIEVES that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and EVERYONE who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are NOT BURDENSOME. For EVERYONE who has been born of God OVERCOMES the world. And this is the VICTORY that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:1-5)
What He empowers us to possess is to simply to express His love to those around us. Expression is birthed from possession. We cannot give what we do not have.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 13:34)
Oh how He answers us when we call upon His name and shows us great and mighty things that He has in store for us. Glory to the Kings of Kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for always answering us every time we call upon You. Thank you for giving us eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to know You in a deeper way. Thank You, Jesus, for being The Way for us to become possessors, victorious, overcomers and more than conquerors, not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God. Amen!
