“What then shall we SAY to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 NKJV)
“What then shall we SAY to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]” (Romans 8:31 AMPC)
“So what should we SAY about all of this? If God is on our side, then tell me: whom should we fear?” (Romans 8:31 Voice)
“What then shall we SAY to these things? In view of the fact that God is on our behalf, who could be against us?” (Romans 8:31 Wuest)
When we face certain challenges in life, mind what comes out of our mouths, “for out of the abundance of our hearts, our mouths speak.” (Matthew 12:34)
Listen to the first words that our mouths SAY when we are caught off guard. It is the determining factor whether we are in faith or in fear.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). It comes by knowing how deeply loved we are by our Heavenly Father, how He perfectly and powerfully demonstrated it when He gave us His only begotten, beloved Son, Jesus Christ, that we may HAVE and ENJOY life to the full, in abundance til it overflows. Mind you, if He withheld nothing from us, not even His beloved Son, what else is there for Him to withhold?
“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not WITH HIM also FREELY give us ALL things?” Romans 8:32 NKJV
Fear, on the other hand, comes exactly the same way and that is by hearing and hearing. The only difference is that, it is geared towards the negative things that are happening all around us, the bad news here and there, the wars, the famines, the volcano eruptions, the tsunamis, the cancers, the viruses, etc. etc.
When I heard about the corona virus that is increasingly spreading, the Lord Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love directed my eyes to see and perceive this verse in a beautiful and powerful way … “What then shall we SAY to these things? (Romans 8:21) Are we content to just let it be? Or .. as we go back to the law of creation where God created us according to His image and likeness, are we going to subdue it in the power of Jesus’ Name?
“Now let Us conceive a new creation—humanity—made in Our image fashioned according to Our likeness. And let Us grant them authority over all the earth—the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, the domesticated animals and the small creeping creatures on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26 Voice)
Do you know that you and I who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ have a heavenly identity and divine ability?
“As many as RECEIVED Him, to them He gave them power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. (John 1:12)
I love the Kenneth S. Wuest expanded translation for this verse that says, “As many as appropriated Him, He gave them a LEGAL RIGHT to become born ones of God, to those who place their trust in His Name.”
Receiving the Son of God, Jesus Christ, into our lives means all that He is and all that He has moved-in in us, that He might finally settle down and feel completely at home in our hearts through our faith. “We have this TREASURE in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” (2 Corinthians 4:7-10)
“Living within us is the Christ who floods us with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for His people, and God wants everyone to know it! (Colossians 1:27 TPT)
The more we KNOW Who is taking up residence in us Who is for us, the more boldness we become when faced with impossible obstacles in life. Truly, our divine identity is linked to our heavenly ability. Our revelatory knowledge of who we are positions us to have confidence to do what He has called us to do with power and authority. Without this revelation of His INDWELLING in us, we will not benefit from it let alone walk in it.
So, “What then shall I SAY to these things? …. Hmmmm … and look at the next line … “If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]”
Knowing that God is not only IN US but He is also on our side giving us the supernatural boost in what we can do with Him! We are not to be impressed by the enemy’s artillery, but we are to be impressed by our divine identity, who He created us to be, and the divine authority and ability He has given to us through our Lord Jesus Christ. We fight a good fight of faith! We fight FROM the victory that Jesus won at the cross for us. We do not fight for the sake of fighting! We fight because we are standing on His promise that HE ALWAYS causes us to triumph IN CHRIST! It is not in and of our own ability for trusting in ourselves brings us nothing but futility. It is NOT by might nor by power, but BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD. We can do ALL things through Christ Who strengthens us.
“I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.” (Philippians 4:13 TPT)
Much more to this is another promise … “Behold, I have given IN YOU that AUTHORITY TO ADVANCE by setting foot upon snakes and scorpions, and over ALL the power of the enemy and nothing will any case harm you.” (Luke 10:19 Wuest)
And more … “I will give you the KEYS of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19 NASB)
KNOW what heaven has! It if is available in heaven, then, you and I have the authority to loose it in our earthly circumstances. Health is what heaven has, therefore, we bind sickness and disease and loose health and wholeness IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS!
God gave us the ability to hear His voice because we are His sheep. It is He Who leads us what to speak and when to speak it. The only hindrance to our obedience to His voice is our ability to hear and listen to other voices that may cause greater influence to us. When we allow the other voices to get amplified within us, it silences the voice of the Holy Spirit in spite of His Word being the most powerful words spoken that created the world into existence and sustained it. You and I have been given a choice. The gift of FREE will is a vital commodity in our lives.
What then are we constantly listening to? How are we making a difference? Will we be the ones in which the whole earth is groaning, as sons and daughters of the Most High God, taking our rightful place and taking authority over whatever is trying to overcome us? Are we going to live up to who He called us to be as victors and not victims, as more than conquerors in Christ? Shall we opt to declare His Word instead of flooding the social media with the scope of the escalation of the virus that strongly inflict fear to our readers and hearers? Be mindful that both hope and hopelessness are contagious. Decide what kind of influence we want to be to this world. We have a choice. Choose wisely! Choose to speak life! Choose LIFE!
Fear begets fear! Faith begets faith! Choose to sow seeds of faith that bring courage and strength. Be a beacon of hope in the sea of hopelessness and helplessness. We have CHRIST IN US, THE HOPE OF GLORY (Colossians 1:27).
Awareness to all these things is good. Do what is necessary. But the Word of God is the most powerful weapon of our spirits and it is what is ultimately beneficial to us. The greater truth of trusting Him and His Word is the key. It is the knowledge of Who lives inside of us, Who makes intercession for us, Who never lost a battle for us and Who always causes us to triumph in every way is what puts our hearts to rest. Be confident on His promises that are Yes and Amen! Just as He says it, so it is, when received and believed.
“A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall NOT come near you.” (Psalm 91:7 NKJV”
When we believe that God is for us, who then can be against us? Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?
Remember this … “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [WHOSE POWER NO FOE CAN WITHSTAND].” Psalm 91:1 AMPC
Let us then walk in the provision that Jesus Christ has given us and His provision is nothing less than HIMSELF, His very Presence living inside of us, His very Word spoken to us, His very Blood that protects us, His very stripes that paid for all our sicknesses and diseases and His very Name that is above every other name in which we have been given the power and authority to command what is not of Him to bow down to the Name of Jesus.
We are His temple. We are His address on the planet. I believe it is time for us to “ARISE and SHINE for the LIGHT has come and the GLORY of the Lord is risen upon us.” (Isaiah 60:1) It is time for us to water the earth with our life-giving words that come from the rain of heaven. It is time for us to “decide and decree a thing and it shall be established for us and the light of God’s favor shall shine upon our ways.” (Job 22:28)
Indeed, the Greater One Who is in us is the One Who granted us this divine identity by grace and gave us the authority by grace to exercise in the earth realm. Know that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. It is within reach. It is in us and it is designed to flow through us.
“For we are the product of His hand, heaven’s poetry etched on lives, created in the Anointed, Jesus, to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10 Voice)
What then shall we say to these things?
“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For ASSUREDLY, I say to you, whoever SAYS to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but BELIEVES that those things he SAYS will be done, he will have whatever he SAYS.” (Mark 11:22-23 NKJV)
