“And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean. Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” (Matthew 8:2-3 NKJV)
Majority of us believe that God is able to heal us. But, many among us still struggle and are in deep doubt if He is willing. This may be so because of our own experiences and that of others. We have seen people around us who called upon Him for healing and were healed, yet some were not. If this is what we are seeing, do we go by faith, seeking to see beyond the obvious? Or do we choose to go by sight?
The Word of God mentioned many accounts that ALL who came to Jesus were healed. All who were healed drew near to Jesus for healing because they initially heard about Him and the miracles, signs and wonders that He did. What they heard caused their faith to arise within them and propelled them to pursue Him. None of them was disappointed, refused or rejected.
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. In the New International Version, this is what it says, “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” (Romans 10:17 NIV)
I used to ask myself where my faith was anchored upon. Do I believe THAT I believe? Do I believe WHAT I believe? What do I really believe? Hmmmm … Is my believing deep enough to manifest what I am praying for? Thankfully, there is now no more condemnation to those who are in Christ. Condemn not ourselves for our faith walk is a progressive one. No one knows it all. No one has arrived. We are learning every single day as we diligently seek Him in His Word. We are all a work in progress and He takes us from faith to faith, from revelation to revelation, from glory to glory.
I came to have a revelation that faith works by love. It is not about my striving to have faith, but the more I keep hearing and hearing, meditating and meditating of how loved I am by Him, my faith progressed.
As Holy Spirit reveals to me day in and day out what it means to be loved dearly, deeply and unconditionally by Him Who Himself is called LOVE, my faith gets muscled-up as I seek to explore and experience His Presence.
The Love of God for mankind was powerfully demonstrated when He gave us His only Begotten and Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. His love towards us is not about nor dependent on what we have done for Him. We cannot make Him love us more as well as we cannot make Him love us less by our own deeds. God’s love is steadfast that endures forever. Our love standing with Him was fully established by the finished work of Jesus Christ when we received Him as our Lord and Savior.
“Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented Himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put His love on the line for us by offering His Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to Him.” (Roman 5:6-8 MSG)
If we, humans, desire our sick loved ones to be healed, how much more our Heavenly Father? He wills for what is in heaven to be manifested on earth. If there are no sickness and disease in heaven, then, it should be mirrored where we are. But because of the fall in the Garden of Eden where sin made its entrance, afflictions made its way.
BUT, God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love, had a redemptive solution made available to those who believe where its effect is for a lifetime. “He sent His Word and HEALED them, and DELIVERED them from their destruction.” (Psalm 107:20) Mind you, Jesus name in Revelation 19:13 is The Word of God. Jesus is the Word made flesh and dwelt among us. He is fully the Son of God and Son of Man Who came, died on our behalf to pay for our sin, sickness and disease once and for all, and redeemed us from all the curses of the law.
Therefore, instead of focusing our eyes on what is going on around us that defies the truth of His Word, seeing people that did not get healed, let us look to the Cross with His supernatural provision, and allow His Word to be the final authority of our lives. His Word is not subject to debate, nor it is subject to people’s opinion. What God has spoken, so be it. Let it be done to us according to His Word. He promised that His covenant He will not break nor alter the words that come out from His mouth. Once He swore by His holiness, He will not lie to us. Jesus Who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. As surely as Jesus bore away our sins, He also bore away our diseases.
“SURELY He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-5)
“SURELY” means UNDOUBTEDLY, DEFINITELY, CERTAINLY, FIRMLY, SECURELY, SOLIDLY.
The word “GRIEFS” and “SORROWS” mean “SICKNESSES” and PAINS in the original Hebrew text, thus, Isaiah was referring to physical healing.
In Matthew 8:16-17, it says, “When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed ALL who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.”
I used to have Rhinitis. When I became a believer of Jesus Christ, I started declaring, “by the stripes of Jesus, I am healed” (Isaiah 53:4-5), with an added revelation that “I will also declare a thing, and it will be established for me.” (Job 22:28) It took me quite sometime of violently declaring this verse before I saw a slight result. Yes, I was healed but after a few months it came back.
And so, I sought the Lord as to how I would fight a good fight against this. And guess what? I got exactly the same two verses but the second one was in the Amplified Classic Version that says, “You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.” When I saw the word “favor”, it put a smile on my face because I knew then that my healing is unmerited, underserved and unearned. With His favor upon me, healing has been made available all because the Lord our God is good, because He loves me and because He is more than willing to heal me. Again, I experienced healing without taking any medication, but purely communion. But a few years later, it visited my nose although it was only for a few times.
Hmmmmm … why? Honestly, I couldn’t remember if I asked the Lord “why”, but I just knew in my heart that I was being taught to fight a good fight of faith and not quit, because His Word is living and powerful. His Word never fails and not a tittle nor a jot shall fall to the ground without it being accomplished. I knew then that there is an adversary who is trying to steal the seed of His Word from being planted and rooted in the ground of my heart, because once it is so, unceasing fruitfulness happens. When fruit is produced as a testimony of Jesus Christ in my life, it becomes a spirit of prophecy.
“This, beloved, is the truth: until heaven and earth disappear, not one letter, not one pen stroke, will disappear from the sacred law—for everything, everything in the sacred law will be fulfilled and accomplished.” (Matthew 5:18 Voice).
Then, another revelation came to me, that we are called to be a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth.
“Behold, I make of you a threshing sledge,
new, sharp, and having teeth;
you shall thresh the mountains and crush them,
and you shall make the hills like chaff;
you shall winnow them, and the wind shall carry them away,
and the tempest shall scatter them.
And you shall rejoice in the Lord;
in the Holy One of Israel you shall glory.” (Isaiah 41:15-16 ESV)
When we give voice to the revealed Word of God, it crushes and threshes mountains. It splinters even the biggest of trees and the mighty cedars of Lebanon like matchsticks. His Word is like a sledgehammer that pulverizes anything, even that of utmost resistance. Oh wow! That’s how powerful the Word of God is as we believe and declare it in the Name of Jesus. This time, I got a vision of the word r-h-i-n-i-t-i-s split or broken away as each letter dissipated into thin air.
“He made my mouth like a sharp sword …” (Isaiah 49:2)
One of my biggest revelations thus far when it comes to healing is when I began to understand why, because of His great love that surpasses understanding, Jesus needed to come in the flesh, as a Man. He came to redeem our flesh from sin and sickness. When He was wounded, pierced, bruised and whipped physically, it was for our physical redemption, healing and wholeness when His Precious Blood was shed at the cross. Now, in Christ, we are flesh of His flesh and bone of His bone.
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2;20)
Divine exchange occurred when Jesus said, “It is finished!” Our forgiveness and healing are PREPAID!
“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you HAVE BEEN healed.” (1 Peter 2:24 ESV)
With all that Jesus had gone through and done with once and for all, how can He be unwilling to heal you and me? What He finished can never be undone. Healing is His children’s bread, but are we willing to believe and partake of what has been paid for? Why not take Him at His Word, receive our healing NOW by faith in Jesus’ Name and by His stripes we are healed?
Jesus willingness was sealed at the Garden of Gethsemane when He knelt down and prayed. He knew what He was going to go through, up to the point of death, but for the joy that was set before Him, seeing you and I through the eyes of His love, He said, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42), knowing that His finished work will make us forgiven, righteous, healed and whole.
It is our Heavenly Father’s will to heal and make whole His sons and daughters and He made The Way, Jesus Christ, for this to come to pass.
Yes, I am free! Whom the Son sets free is free indeed! PRAISE THE LORD!
There were countless revelations that brought forth wisdom when I didn’t know what to declare or do and those became my treasures. In the midst of those divine instructions and inspirations, I got to share with those within my sphere of influence who asked for healing prayers that sparked courage and strength to them. Glory to God.
Truly our life is not our own. We live with a purpose to inspire others, to be the salt and light of the earth, just as He called us to be. And what He brought us out from, we get to impart to those who need the same. Whatever we’ve been delivered from, we become the deliverer of, not by our might, nor by our power, but by the Spirit of God dwelling inside of us.
Every time He speaks, we are changed from the inside out. How awesome is His love that when we ask Him for wisdom He liberally gives it without reproach.
This journey that we have is an endless pursuit of His presence where fullness of joy is found. It is a constant and consistent nourishment, cultivation and development of our intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through our fellowship with Holy Spirit. So, let us be strong and be of good courage when we still do not see what we want to see, for it is in our everyday life spent with Him, seeking Him, communing with Him, worshiping Him and enjoying His presence is what matters most. The more we seek and see Him, the more His will will be manifested before our very eyes.
“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your great love that You gave us the Darling of Heaven, Your only Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to save us, to heal us, to rescue us, to prosper us, to restore us, to preserve us, to deliver us, to make us well and whole. Thank You, Jesus, for fully yielding to the will of the Father for the joy that was set before You, seeing His will be done on earth as it is in heaven be manifested in our lives. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for continuing to reveal us to Who Jesus is and what He has finished, that we may be able to partake of the feast of our healing inheritance that was already set, paid in full and made ready for us. Open our eyes to see Jesus Who has surely borne our sickness and carried our pains. Open our ears to hear Him say, “I am willing! Be cleansed!”, and walk according to what He has spoken. Amen!
