A Divine Visit

Do you know how mindful the Lord our God is of us that He desires to visit us even in the most surprising, simple and unadorned way?  Yet, when it happens, it’s on-point that enlarges our reverential awe of Him.

He is all-knowing, thus, He knows all things and knows the special dates that we treasure in our hearts.   His timing is always perfect and He paces it in such a way wherein we get swept off our feet at the outcome when we obey.

The Lord has been mindful of us, He will bless us: He will bless the house of Israel, He will bless the house of Aaron [the priesthood], He will bless those who reverently and worshipfully fear the Lord, both small and great.”  (Psalm 115:12-13 AMPC)

God’s divine visitation comes in various forms and flows.  Our part is to recognize and be aware of them so it does not pass us by without acknowledging His touch of care for us.  He promised that He will make all His goodness pass before us and declare His Name over us, but are our antennas rightly tuned to His frequency for us to perceive and partake?  He promised to daily load us with benefits, but do we know this truth of how much He lavishly cares for us that He withholds nothing from us?

“He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?”  (Romans 8:32 AMPC)

The Lord our God, our Father, gave us His only Begotten Son, the Darling of Heaven, Jesus Christ, because of His great love for us.  Do you think He will withhold anything else from us? Unless it is not congruent to His will for us, He may withhold, but He surely will issue an invitation for our desires to shift and be in line with His, and graciously wait for the perfect time for Him to lavishly bless us.  In love, He intentionally and redemptively sent us the Savior of the world so that you and I will be divinely transformed and graced to receive all that He has for us.  This is the most powerful divine visitation we could ever have.

This morning as I was in my time of devotion, these verses came out of the page and became alive in me that fed and nourished me.  Its effect is so timely, but I also know that I will be drawing from this for the rest of my life for His Word is equally timeless when eagerly partaken.

“Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.  For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?”  (Hebrews 2:1-3 ESV)

You see, every transgression and disobedience RECEIVED a just retribution.  Who then can escape from such?  But, thanks be to the Lord our God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love, that when He sent His Son, shed His precious blood at the cross and paid the unmatched steepest price for us, He cleansed us from all our unrighteousness and remembers our sins no more (Hebrews 8:12).  He has taken our sins so far away from us, as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12).

“For Moses writes that the law’s way of making a person right with God requires obedience to all of its commands.”
‭‭(Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

But, faith’s way of making right with God says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be SAVED. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are SAVED.” (Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Jesus, our Lord and Savior, is our Great Salvation.  He paid for every transgression and disobedience. He made us right before the Father and made what was due us because of sin of no effect.  His obedience to the Father graces us to be obedient as He shares His continual victory with us. Indeed, as He is, so are we in this world, for we have been made according to His image and likeness.

I remembered an account in the Bible about the woman who had been caught in the act of adultery.  The Pharisees asked Jesus, “The Law of Moses says to stone her.  What do you say?”  They demanded an answer from Him.   Jesus stood up and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” (John 8:7 NLT)

When the accusers heard this, they slipped away one by one, beginning with the oldest, until only Jesus was left in the middle of the crowd with the woman.  Then Jesus said to her, “Where are your accusers?  Didn’t even one of them condemn you?  “No, Lord,” she said.  And Jesus said, “Neither do I.  Go and sin no more.” (John 8:9-11 NLT)

The woman had a powerful divine visitation from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She did not receive what was due her according to the law Moses wrote and that was to be stoned to death.  Instead, she received forgiveness and was set free. She was saved by grace. What Great Salvation indeed.

The grace of God rewrote our story.  He made us the temples of the Holy Spirit Who empowers us to walk in the path of righteousness, not by our own might nor by our own power.  He made us worthy to receive all the blessings that He has prepared and prearranged for us.  How then can anything be withheld from us, definitely not even a visitation from Him?

Do you know that the justification that Jesus purchased for us made us new creations in Him? Meaning, we are just as if we have not sinned against Him.  He paid it once and for all, thus, it is unearned, undeserved and unmerited. Now, when we talk to our Father is no different than how Jesus talks to Him.  He loves us just as He loves Jesus.  He sees us just as He sees Jesus.  He hears us just as He hears Jesus. This Great Salvation changed the course of our lives and took us back just like Adam and Eve walking, talking, communing and fellowshipping with God in the cool of the day before the fall.  Ohhh how awesome are His visitations.

But wait …  for us who are IN CHRIST, there is more.   We have a better covenant with better promises.  We have much more than what Adam and Even had who communed with God in the garden.  Yes, God walked with them. He visited them. But now, as tabernacles of divinity, He indwells us by His very own Holy Spirit.  Being indwelt means we become His holy habitation. He lives in us. His visitations come in us through His divine wisdom, revelations and interventions. Similarly, He visits others through us because He is resident in us.

Our divine visitations can manifest through our Pastors as we receive God’s refreshing Word Sunday after Sunday.  They can come through the Words of our Apostles, Prophets, Teachers and Evangelists.  They can come through people who say “Yes” to the Lord to bless us, visit us and encourage us. Even for our employers to hire us is a divine visitation.

The Lord our God has countless incomprehensible and concealed ways of visiting us.  All we need is for us to be highly sensitive to His leading to be able to discern that it’s Him visiting us, to acknowledge Him and to thank Him for His mindfulness of us.

A couple of weeks ago, I was surprisingly blessed monetarily by someone close to me.  I always consider things like these as His divine visitations and touches.

Two days later, I had a strong unction to message a friend whom I have not seen for almost a decade.  I simply invited her to come and have lunch with me at my house.  Thankfully, she said “Yes” because she was super sad as she described her day to be, although she mentioned that she even did not have money for her fare.   And so, I gave her.

Then, the Lord prompted me to bless her with a certain amount when she goes home as well.

I offered her choices of food that I’d be ordering and when she mentioned one that she has not tried yet, my heart was so excited to cater it to her.  I also asked what kind of drink she preferred and bought it.  Then, I thought of buying ice cream for our dessert.

She came.  We prayed.  We fellowshipped over our food.  At about 8:30pm, I brought out the ice cream and I saw her eyes lit up and said, “Do you know the reason why I’m sad?  Today is the birthday of my Dad who is in heaven.  My Mom and I used to celebrate his birthday every year.  You see, I’m a Daddy’s Girl.  Since my Mom passed away a few months ago, I no longer have anyone to celebrate him with.  More so, I do not have the resources do so.”  Ohhhhh how her story touched my heart … then, we greeted Happy Birthday to her Dad.

When the night was over, I took her to the place where she could take her transport to head home and handed her what the Lord prompted me to give.  She was awesomely surprised and thankful.

As I was driving back home, I couldn’t stop thanking God for leading me to call and invite her over.  I did not know of any occasion that my friend was meaning to celebrate, but the Lord knew that specific special day and He desired to visit her.  He knew it, so mindul of it and orchestrated it all along, for He even had provisions for it when I received a blessing prior to this day.  ALL GLORY AND PRAISE TO HIM WHO IS WORTHY OF IT ALL, KING JESUS.

This simple but powerful testimony of the goodness of God is indeed a spirit of prophecy.  When you get to read and partake of what has been said and shared, this will open your eyes to recognize these visitations in your own lives.  His move, more often than not, does not need a platform nor for it to be spectacular.  It may be as simple as a smile or a tap on a shoulder that would mean so much to the one who receives it and it is the Lord our God Who makes it a supernatural encounter because of His involvement.  Let us not despise small beginnings as He is looking out for those who can be trusted with little, and eventually will be trusted with more.

In my God-story comes your God-story. In your God-story comes someone else’s God story. The Holy Spirit knows what Jesus has and brings them through our hearts God’s latest thought of particular person.

Truly He positions lots of people around us to bless us or for us to be a blessing.  He either visits us through them or He visits them through us.

When the kingdom of God is within us, how can the flow of our Heavenly Father’s desire not flow in and through us?  May we learn and be sensitive to His leading and say “Yes, Lord” each time.  Let us trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding.  Let us acknowledge Him in all of our ways and He will direct our path (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You, for revealing to us how mindful You are of us, desiring to visit us.  Yes, we are Your holy habitation, but Your divine visitations always build our faith up from glory to glory that we may be expectant to see more of Your heavenly touch in our lives.  Thank You, Jesus, for being our Great Salvation.  How can we indeed neglect what You have powerfully done for us?  You made the way for us to be ONE with You in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit Who is resident in us.  Thank You for making us worthy to receive all that You have for us, worthy for Your divine visitations.  Thank You, Holy Spirit, for always taking all of what Jesus has and declares them to us that we may believe and receive all that is in store for us.  Amen!
