Walk On Water

A believer of Jesus Christ can no longer live an ordinary life.  Just the thought of believing an invisible God Who is ALMIGHTY, Who created the heavens and the earth, Who loves and cares for His own makes one extraordinary.  He called us peculiar and no amount of accusations by the accuser of the brethren, no amount of lies roared by the enemy can withstand against what He has spoken of us, unless we lie ignorant of who we are in Him.  We are the apple of His eye, His precious prized possessions.

Have you ever thought that Peter would not have stepped out of the boat without Jesus commanding him to “COME!”?  No Way! No one has ever done it EVER!  But the very moment Jesus spoke, “Be of good cheer!  It is I; do not be afraid.” (Matthew 14:27), and Peter recognized Him, he answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” (Matthew 14:28)  Jesus said, “Come!”

Oh what a childlike faith Peter had!  He must have taken Jesus’ words seriously when He said,

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.  And WHATEVER you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”  (John 14:12-14)

If you look at a child, in almost everything that they do, they fail.  When they try to walk, they fall.  When they try to hold something, it falls.  When they try to eat, it’s messy,  When they try to talk, only one syllable comes out.  BUT in the midst of these, they do not stop!  They are persistent!  Why?  Because they must have thought, if my daddy can do it, I can do it!

Hmmm … I believe those same thoughts were playing in Peter’s mind.  If Jesus can do it, he can do it!  And as Jesus said, “WHATEVER you ask in My name, that I will do!”  Peter simply asked, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”  At Jesus’ command, “COME!”, Peter walked on water.

Our lifelong pursuit of knowing Jesus is a journey into the supernatural.  It may not be a perfect road to take, with its potholes, uphills, downhills, humps and sharp curves, but one thing for sure is that He never leaves us helpless nor without support.  He is with us whether we are aware of Him or not.

Peter walked on water towards Jesus with an imperfect condition of the sea.  It was rough and the boat was pushed around by the waves and wind, and yet he stepped out of the boat.  When the reality of the boisterous wind captured the attention of Peter, fear started to grip his heart and he began to sink.  He cried out, “Lord, save me.” (Matthew 14:30)  IMMEDIATELY Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him.

How beautiful and wonderful it is to behold that even when we fall short of His glory, we can cry out and with expectancy we immediately will be saved.  That is the amazing grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  It is unearned, undeserved and more so unmerited.

“… you asked God for help and He gave you the victory.  God is ALWAYS on the alert, constantly on the lookout for people who are totally committed to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9)

What are you believing for today?  Ask the Lord to show you The Way!  At His command, heaven invades where we are at.

I have always been a  “Word of God” person.  He has deposited this passion and desire inside my heart ever since the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see and perceive His word differently.  Now this burning passion fuels me to know, meditate and study more.  I love buying books, getting dvds or watching teachings in youtube that are based on the Word of God.  I have this deep desire to keep pursuing what He has for me whether it is directly downloaded into my heart or through the revelations of other respected pastors and bible teachers.  It is an unending digging of the treasure hidden yet revealed to those who diligently seek Him.

There are times I find the lesson expensive in the sense that it is beyond my budget, yet it does not stop me.  At one point I asked for a 75% scholarship.  A week later I received an email that they were not offering it and so I just continued to listen to free teachings.  Little did I know that two weeks later,  I got another email that I was granted such scholarship!  Thank You, Jesus.

Surely the Lord knows the desires of our hearts.  Another time, I saw a scholarship being offered.  Many may think “what if you’ll be turned down again?”.  But fear cannot stop a hungry and thirsty heart from moving forward.  The waves and wind did not stop Peter from getting out of the boat and be wet.  An offense cannot have its way when we are passionate.  And so, I applied.

Three days later, I got an acceptance letter.  It was not a 100% scholarship.  But out of $3,000 worth of teachings, I was only asked for a partnership gift of $250.  Who can beat that?  Praise the Lord.

Life indeed is a beautiful adventure as we journey with our loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.  It is He Who ordains our every step and empowers us to take that step.  He is our Good Shepherd Who looks after His sheep with His amazing love.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with My loving eye on you.” (Proverbs 32:8 NIV)
