The Key of Authority

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth [b]shall have been loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19 NASB)

A key is a piece of metal that has been cut into a special shape and is used for opening or closing a lock (Cambridge English Dictionary).  It is a means of gaining or preventing entrance, possession, or control (Mirriam-Webster Dictionary).

A key denotes authority.  It’s all up to the holder of the key what to forbid or permit.

When Jesus asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” (Matthew 16:13)  Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (v.16)

With that powerful revelation of Who Jesus is, not solely by Simon Peter himself but revealed by our Father Who is in heaven, Jesus said to him, “on this rock I will build My church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.” (v. 18-19)

We who believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God have been given this key of authority.  We, His church, have been empowered to continue in this privileged responsibility of invading the earth with His Kingdom power and provision, charged with the implementation of what Jesus Christ has released through His life, death and resurrection.

And so, revelations like these are invitations for us to explore and experience what Jesus Christ gave us.  He is the Way, the Truth and the Life!  We cannot stay ignorant of the enemy’s schemes and allow him to toss us to and fro with his lies, lies and more lies, for there is NO truth in him.

I used to wake up each morning sneezing.  In addition to this, when I am in the midst of a dusty environment or sitting next to someone who is wearing a very strong perfume, most likely I react the same way.  But God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love heeded the cry of my heart when I got tired of being subject to all these and reminded me of Who He is, how loved I am, what Jesus fully accomplished and who I am, His dearly beloved whom He made worthy to receive what He has given.

It was not in an instant, but I went through the process of meditating His Word about the authority in Jesus’ Name.  We are meant to be on top and not underneath, the head and not the tail.  We have been made righteous by the power of His Blood shed at the cross.  We have been healed and made whole 2000 years ago by the stripes that He bore on His body.  He Who knew no sin became sin and was separated from the Father when He cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?, so that you and I be reconciled and restored into our intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father.  Jesus did it all and paid it all.  Nothing was left unsettled and it will take more than our lifetime and into eternity to discover what He accomplished at His suffering, death and resurrection.

I had to renew my thinking and create new thought patterns.  Instead of accepting the fact that I sneeze every morning, I started to reject such.  Instead I began to submit to the truth of God’s word that I am healed.  Jesus paid for it, therefore I have been given the KEY of power and authority to open the door and allow divine healing to touch my body.  I made my declarations every morning, believing that He sent His Word to heal me in spite of being in the midst of having series of sneezes.  I fought a good fight of faith, completely and fully relying on the truth of His Word that NEVER fails.

“Now faith brings our hopes into reality and becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things we long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.”  (Hebrews 11:1 TPT)

It is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God.  It is “[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.”  (Philippians 2:13 AMPC)

Until … one day, I woke up with all the sneezes gone!  Hallelujah!!!  Thank You, Jesus!

And on another day …  as I was vacuuming some dusty stuff in our office, surprisingly I suffered no sneezes!  Praise the Lord!

Sickness is to our bodies …

Sin is to our souls …

Separation from God is to our spirits …

But the BLOOD OF JESUS paid them ALL and made us WHOLE, in spirit, soul and body.

“So if the Son liberates you [makes you FREE men], then you are REALLY and UNQUESTIONABLY FREE.”  (John 8:36 AMPC)

This is not positive thinking independent of Jesus!  This is renewed thinking that is totally and absolutely reliant on the finished work of Jesus Christ, His Word made flesh  in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, the present-day Godhead indwelling in us that transforms our lives.
