Hope is a confident and joyful expectation and anticipation that something GOOD is at hand. Psalm 23:6 says, “SURELY GOODNESS and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives, when we make Jesus the Lord, our Shepherd. Moreover, we have a GOOD, GOOD Father, therefore His goodness is to be awaited.
Jesus Christ in us is the HOPE of Glory (Colossians 1:27). In HIM is life without dead ends, for He makes a way where there seem to be no way. In truth, He IS the Way. He paves the way. The steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord, therefore, He Who leads us absolutely knows where He is taking us. We are His sheep who follows the One Who makes us lie down in green pastures, leads us beside the still waters, restores our souls and leads us in the paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:1-3). How then can a believer of Jesus Christ find hopelessness in Him?
I was meditating on His Word just a couple of days ago. I enumerated one by one the things that I could think of that is a need of mankind. A little later, as I took communion, I thought deeply of how our every need has been well taken care of by His suffering, death, burial and resurrection. His divine complete provision was made available from that very day and into forever, BUT it takes faith for us to tap into all that He paid for.
As I have always mentioned, nothing is automatic in the Kingdom of God. We need to know His Word, meditate on His Word and believe His Word. It is not by might nor by power, but by the Holy Spirit. It is He Who reveals to us the things that has been freely given. “What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.” (1 Corinthians 2:12) Apart from the Holy Spirit, these things will come across as foolishness, for they are spiritually discerned.
Believers are invited and wooed to confidently walk in the mystery of all that Jesus accomplished and finished at the cross 2000 years ago, but these mysteries lie dormant if they are not tapped with our faith and trust in His spoken Word. Ignorance to the truth costs. God in all His goodness, Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love made these divine mysteries that are truths discoverable, yet only by divine revelation and can never be understood without the divine help of the Holy Spirit. Because of Jesus Christ, He now unveiled His secrets to us by the indwelling of Holy Spirit in our lives. It is indeed according to the riches of God’s grace that all these things have been made available to you and me, WITHHOLDING NOTHING! That is good news in its full extent.
We know that the just shall live by faith! It is not by sight! His promises in His Word that are yes and amen are revealed first and foremost in the spiritual realm. Something happens in our hearts when a promise is revealed and changes the way we think towards what we are praying for. Sometimes it becomes so real yet unseen. We just know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is within reach. And before we know it, it manifests before our very eyes.
Know that in times of challenges and all we see are the mountains in front of us, we can REJOICE, BE ENCOURAGED and BE OF GOOD CHEER! For just as the sun lies invisible on a cloudy sky, we still see the effect of its presence by the light that it brings. God’s very presence, though may seem absent, but by faith on the word of what He has spoken … “I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!”(Hebrews 13:5 AMPC), what He said is to be esteemed as superior reality of truth!
Oh how His Word is like water that washes our stinking thinking and renews our minds to be like His own.
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27 NKJV
How amazing it is to think that in this verse, Jesus Who dearly and deeply loves His church, that’s you and I, gave Himself to us. He, the Word became flesh, came, fully obedient to the Father to the point of death just as so we will be washed, cleansed, spotless and wrinkle-less by the power of His spoken Word. It is in our “righteousness in Christ” identity that gives us the confidence to receive all the provision that He made available.
Our hope comes from His Word that revives us. It reminds us that in our every need lies a redemptive solution that is at hand.
“Lord, I’m fading away. I’m discouraged and lying in the dust;
revive me by your word, just like you promised you would.” (Psalm 119:25 TPT)
Our hope comes from His Word that refreshes us. It gives us stamina to run the race that He has called us to run.
“When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!” (Hebrews 12:3 MSG)
His Word restores us and His kind of restoration is way above and beyond what we can think or imagine. His way of restoration is us becoming His new creation in Christ.
“For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.” (Romans 5:10 NLT)
His Word is revelation. It gives light to where we are going. When the darkness of confusion hovers upon us, it limits our movement to avoid damage.
“By His words we can see where we’re going; they throw a beam of light on our dark path.” (Psalm 110:105)
His Word comforts and embraces us. When the truth is revealed, it puts our hearts and minds to rest and trust Him completely that He Who began a GOOD work in us is faithful to finish it.
His Word is living and powerful because Jesus is ALIVE! We have the Living Hope because Jesus is ALIVE! Our faith is established on the Living Word, Jesus, Who is the Word Himself, always speaking and communicating because He is ALIVE!
We have a LIVING GOD Who deeply loves us and dearly cares for us. How than can hopelessness arise?
“So as a gift of His love,
and since we are faultless—
innocent before His face—
we can now become HEIRS OF ALL THINGS,
all because of an overflowing HOPE of eternal life.
How true and faithful is this message!” (Titus 3:7-8 TPT)
