The revelation of God’s word renews our thinking and transforms our lives. No one can argue when our hearts are changed by the breath of God when He speaks.
Indeed, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
It is not by sheer will that we get transformed. It is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God (Zechariah 4:6). It is “[not in our own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in us [energizing and creating in us the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight (Philippians 2:13 AMPC).
The process of our conversion to become more like Him is found within our daily divine life encounters with Him. Always remember that “through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:3) That means, apart from Him, we are nothing. Our life of salvation, reverence and sensitivity before God is energized by Him. I love the Message Paraphrase of Philippians 2:13 that says, “That energy is God’s energy, an energy deep within you, God himself willing and working at what will give him the most pleasure.”
It all starts by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ that births faith in the heart that responds to what He has spoken. His Word when esteemed superior over all the voices that we hear and listen to is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires (Hebrews 4:12).
As I was meditating on this powerful authority of God’s Word, I happened to watch a video of a transgender whose life was powerfully changed and transformed because of one divine encounter with the Lord. He experienced being violated and raped, went into drugs and prostitution. More so, he was told by those around him that he was too pretty to be a boy and encouraged him to take hormones. He was told by his mother at a young age that he should have been born a girl instead of a boy. He chewed these words over and over and lived with rejection by not being accepted for who he really is. The turmoil and torment in his mind became so deep that eventually he succumb into agreement with all those lies.
One day, he came to the point of looking at his body and said to himself, “Look at me! Where did I get to this point in my life? I hate my life! I don’t like myself! How did I get to this point? …. I have all this confusion in my mind and I’m just wanting someone to love me.” And in that place where he was at at that very moment, he saw this little old woman and little old man before him whom he felt they had such concern over him. He didn’t know why he knew it, but he just knew it. The the little old woman came to him and put her hand on his shoulder and said, “Honey, do you know Jesus?” He responded with a lie and said, “oh yeah, I know Him well.”
When he came home to his apartment and went for a shower, suddenly he heard this voice, “Do you know Jesus?” These words kept resonating in his heart wherever he went for a week. He wanted to do away with this voice because he couldn’t do his usual routine anymore, but he couldn’t get rid of it. Until one day he yielded and turned the Christian TV on to learn about Jesus. And when he did, the voice stopped asking him.
Then, a powerful encounter happened when the Lord came upon him and showed him 41 pictures of his life like a film and said, “This is NOT you! This is what the devil has done to you.”
Later on the Lord spoke to him again and said, “Behold, old things are passed away. You are a new creation.” When He said those words, all the drugs, the lifestyle, the addiction, everything was gone instantly and the Lord created the hunger in his heart for the Word of God where He speaks. How the Lord assured him of how loved he is and how He stopped for him who is so unworthy and dirty. That is the unearned, unmerited and undeserved grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now that he has been delivered from all the lies of the enemy for several years and is now living in the truth of who God says he is, what he went through gave him the love and compassion for those who are in such state, cry with them and be the light. He is the carrier of the One Who changed him and carries this message to know Jesus.
Oh what a beautiful testimony. Truly when God speaks, who can come against it? The Spirit-breathed Word is so powerful that created the world into existence and sustains it by the word of His power. What makes us think that it cannot change us?
Indeed, when the Word of God is rooted and grounded in the fertile soil of our hearts, it will surely grow and bear fruit, the outward manifestation of the transformation that it brings into our lives. Greater and more powerful is the Word in us than the words spoken by this world.
In the world that we live in today, there are too many fighting for human rights by their own might. This is all because, in the absence of knowing who we truly are, the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, we want our voices to be heard. We want what we want to be “right” even if it goes contrary to the Word of God. But God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love still continues to touch people’s lives till today for us to know Him by the power of divine encounters through His spoken word. It is in the experiential knowledge of His love that establishes us that no one can argue nor talk us out of it. His Word becoming flesh. His Word becoming tangible to experience.
Oh … if we only know the very reason why He gave us His Word, breathed by the Holy Spirit. It is the divine perimeter for our safety and security, our salvation in its entirety. But … without knowing Who Jesus is, the Word is foolishness to the world for it is spiritually revealed.
“So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders.” Deuteronomy 11:18 NLT
When we meditate His Word day and night, we are posturing our hearts to be realigned and calibrated into the plumb-line, the standard of His Word.
A plumb line is a weight suspended from a string used as a vertical reference line to ensure a structure is centered. It is not subject to anything but everything must be congruent to it to obtain a perfect structure.
When His Word becomes our plumb line, it is the divine standard way that is not subject to man’s opinions nor frustrations. It is not pliable to the whims of changing culture nor human rights’ demands to satisfy man’s agendas.
God’s laws are non-negotiable. His Word is the same yesterday, today and forever. His moral standards are not there to adjust to what man wants apart from His. They are there to declare an end to man’s attempts to justify their crooked ways that are temporal in nature and to create a new beginning of being justified and made righteous by the power of Blood of Jesus Christ that is eternal. His purpose is for man to live a life in abundance, to the full till it overflows. His heart’s desire is always for our own good all because the God, our Father, is GOOD!
“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” Joshua 1:8 NLT
Take heart! Do not be deceived by lies of the enemy, but believe the truth that He has spoken. Without the word, nothing of the word we will see!
Be of good cheer and focus on who God created us to be and not dwell on who we are not by digging deep into His Word. Let us not allow our heavenly identity to tarnish and lay waste just because we know nothing of it. It is never too late. Begin now! Defeat and depression are not in the list of who we are IN CHRIST. We have been anoined with joy and gladness because we are the righteousness of God in Christ. We have been declared victorious, overcomers and more than conquerors! Glory to God!
“You are passionate for righteousness and you hate lawlessness. This is why God, your God, crowns you with bliss above your fellow kings. He has anointed you, more than any other, with his oil of fervent joy, the very fragrance of heaven’s gladness.” (Psalm 45:7 TPT)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us Your Son, Jesus Christ, Who is The Word Himself becoming flesh and dwelling among us. Thank You, Jesus, for making Yourself and all that You have paid for available to us, withholding nothing from us, that we may live and enjoy life abundantly. Create in us a hunger and thirst to know You more by the power of Your Word. Holy Spirit, open our eyes to see what You see. Open our ears to hear what you speak. Teach us to live and move and have our being in You, living a good life that You have prearranged before us. Amen!
