Who Am I?

“The Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush.” (Exodus 3:2)

When Moses saw the burning bush, he drew near, he looked and beheld. He saw this GREAT SIGHT why the bush did not burn. Then, He heard God calling him.

The Lord chose Moses to send him to Pharaoh that he may bring His people out of Egypt. He surely SAW the oppression of His people and have HEARD their cry because of their taskmasters, for He KNEW their sorrows.

Interestingly, His word says, “I HAVE COME DOWN to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey.” (Exodus 3:8)

What an awesome revelation this is that our Almighty God and Father personally desires to have a relationship with us, getting involved in our daily affairs in life and getting us to a place of lushness, fertility and abundance.

How does He come down to deliver? Hmmmm … He uses us, His people.  We are His co-laborers in His kingdom.  His sovereignty always includes and involves people although He is not limited to it. I believe this is so because He says “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof (Psalm 24:1) but He has given it to His children.” (Psalm 115:16)  He created us to have authority.  He created us according to His image and likeness to be fruitful, multiply and subdue the earth. Our authority is never to command with power against people. It is always meant to protect and empower others, a reflection of Who He truly is.

When God called Moses, his response was filled with humility. “WHO AM I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11) Moses felt so unqualified and undeserving. Mind you, he left Egypt because Pharaoh was after him, having killed an Egyptian who was fighting against an Israelite. And now, he will be sent back to face the new Pharaoh?  What confidence does he has? Truly God is merciful and His timing is always perfect that Moses was sent back to Egypt when those who sought to kill him were already dead.

Interestingly, when Moses asked God “WHO AM I that I should go to Pharaoh?”, God answered Moses NOT according to his line of inquiry.  Instead, He said, “I WILL CERTAINLY BE WITH YOU. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you.” (Exodus 3:12) For me, it is an indirect way of saying, “It is you I want to be with, Moses.”

“Then Moses said to the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” (Exodus 4:10)

Once again, the Lord’s answer was not focused on what Moses could do but in WHO HE IS, as our Creator. “So the Lord said to him, Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have I not, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I WILL BE WITH YOUR MOUTH AND TEACH YOU WHAT YOU SHALL SAY.” (Exodus 4:11-12)

Luke 12:12

We always hear this phrase, “God doesn’t call the qualified, but He qualifies the called. The very way He qualifies us is HIM BEING WITH US. HIS PRESENCE in our lives is all that matters. HIS POWER AND ANOINTING demonstrated through us is of most vital and utmost necessity, otherwise nothing will be accomplished and sustained in and of our own ability.

The qualified He doesn’t call because of the pride of getting to do things on their own apart from God. But God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love always gives hope to all mankind. The only qualification for the qualified to qualify is when they get born again and be sanctified for God’s use. It is when the qualified know, acknowledge and recognize Jesus as their Lord and Savior.  It is when they yield to His Lordship that their talents and abilities will all be wrapped in His presence, in His anointing that they get to be used by Him to carry His kingdom and diffuse the fragrance of His love and to do things with Him ALL FOR HIS GLORY!

The utmost desire of our God is to be near us. He desires intimacy with us. He desires to equip us, grace us, empower us and use us by the power of His love filling and flooding us.  The good news is that EVERYONE IS INVITED and the only qualification is YIELDEDNESS to and DEPENDENCE upon Him.

No wonder Moses was called to be the most humble person on the face of the earth (Number 12:3). Humility allows the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives to be unquenched and unleashed.  Moses was one man whom power, miracle, signs and wonders of God were unequaled apart from Jesus when He walked on earth.  Moses caught it.  He knew importance, the vitality and utmost necessity of God’s Presence that He said to God, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” (Exodus 33:15)

Let our idenity be grounded on the truth that God is with us. He is Emmanuel, God with us.  His promise, “Behold, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS.”,  is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Let us cultivate our hearts into the awareness of Who dwells inside of us. The Holy Spirit is the present-day Godhead resident within us. Once our adoption papers were sealed and signed by the Blood of Jesus Christ by believing in Him whom the Father has sent, nothing and no one can separate us from His presence. We are IN HIM and He is IN US for eternity.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit to abide in us forever. Thank You for the seal of ownership that you have stamped upon us by the power of the Blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus. Thank You that nothing and no one can snatch us away from You. Your presence indeed is heaven to us. Amen!
