I was watching a woman who happened to be just thinking and believing of how she can make ends meet. She’s got rent to deal with, bills to pay and food to buy for her to live. What encouraged me was that she pressed in on what could she possibly do. She thought of something within her reach and turned it into a work of art that brought forth provision. She had chipped and broken ceramic pieces like plates, cups, etc, and saw beyond. Little did she know that out of those seemingly useless broken pieces emerged a beautiful masterpiece of ceramic mosaic.
There is nothing like discovering the gift that God has deposited in our hearts. Every now and then something surfaces from deep within us that we never even previously thought of doing. It was never in my wildest dreams that I would be having a “blog” today for there was a point in my life that I was seen to seemingly know nothing and I believed it. I believed in a lie therefore walked in a lie. But God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in His love and grace saved me from the lies of the enemy that was powerful enough to ambush what was meant for me. Hearing and hearing the word of God washed those crippling thoughts away and the Holy Spirit enabled me to redefine my identity to who I am IN Christ, a “new creation”, made according to His image and likeness.
Les Brown quoted, ““The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry our their dream.”
No wonder the servant with one talent didn’t do anything with what was given to him. He was too fearful and scared to step out in faith and do something with his one talent. Instead, he hid it and was called by the master, “wicked and lazy servant”, after finding out that nothing was done to it. (Matthew 25:24-26)
But NOW that our identity IN Christ has been redefined to be the ones WHOM HE FIRST LOVED, this truth once believed and settled in our hearts will put a “CLOSED” sign on its door rebuking fear to never enter in. We are to meditate on how much our Heavenly Father loves us and know that His love is PERFECT! His love never fails. His love never gives up. His love never runs out. His love is everlasting. His love will enable us to take the first step and the following steps forward knowing that He with us ALWAYS. “”He ASSURED us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?”” (Hebrews 13:5 MSG)
As I am in this quest of believing to be an extravagant blesser and have stepped out in faith and made a decision to invest in stocks, bonds and mutual funds, my primary goal at the moment is to raise a certain amount to begin with, after I registered myself by faith to be in it. I asked the Lord to make me SEE what do I have in my hands that can be of use, just like in the multiplication of bread and fish, a boy’s lunch was used. Jesus saw beyond two fish and five loaves and knew that they would end up with much more than when they began. But of course we cannot limit what God can do. We cannot box Him, for in His sovereignty He can do the most unimaginable thing He pleases to do. It was never in my agenda to borrow money to start this new beginning. I just kept it in my heart His word of promise that He Who began a good work in me is faithful to finish it to a FLOURISHING one.
For some months now, I’ve been trying to sell one of my keyboards along with some other unused gadgets. One guy was interested but he kept bargaining until we agreed to settle at a very low price. Once price was set, he never answered any of my messages anymore. And so I thought, maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Three weeks ago, once again I sent him a message and exactly the same thing happened. This time I said to myself, this is the last time I’m going to deal with him.
A couple of days later, I came in contact with another friend and told him about my gadgets. Since he was out of the house at that time, he couldn’t really look into the photos and the details of what I was selling. A few minutes later, I thought of sending another message to another friend. Lo and Behold, without even considering to check the workability of what I was selling, in just a few seconds it was SOLD! The very best part of what happened was that the price was almost double! Glory to God! When I thanked Him for being a blessing, this was his reply … “The Lord told me to buy them!” That left me speechless, in awe of what I heard. This is indeed the Lord’s doing that is marvelous to behold.
I believe the timing was perfect. God’s timing is always perfect. When I thought of selling my things a few months ago, there wasn’t really any purpose attached to it. It was just because I was no longer using them. The Lord knew then that when the time came for Him to unveil the passion and compassion in my heart to be an extravagant blesser, He already made an avenue for me to walk on. He always goes before us, making rivers in the desserts, roads in the wilderness, making a way where there seems to be no way. How awesome is our Good Good Father!
“For I am about to do SOMETHING NEW. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19 NLT)
So, what are the things that you are impassioned about? I have always been blessed watching people discover the gift in them. When I see musicians, scientists, physicians, painters, singers, cleaners, janitors, drivers, dancers, teachers, etc, who find joy and pleasure in doing what they are called to do, it moves me to dig deeper into who God created me to be. There is no position too high nor too low when we know who we are IN Christ, for His presence in us makes us whole and complete, needing not the approval and applause of men but giving glory to God Who has deposited in us His DNA. The gifts and callings of God are irrevocable. They don’t change. I love the MESSAGE translation that says, “God’s gifts and God’s call are under full warranty—never canceled, never rescinded.” (Romans 11:29 MSG) So, take on the journey of discovering the gift in you, discovering something new. The Holy Spirit will lead you every step of the way and let His faithfulness be your confidence.
“It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them.” (Proverbs 25:2 NLT)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift that you have deposited in me and I ask You today to unveil my eyes to discover what you have honored me to carry. Thank You, Jesus, that because of Your finished work, I have been taken out of the kingdom of darkness where I CANNOT SEE and brought me into the kingdom of light where I AM PRIVILEGED TO SEE! Thank You, Holy Spirit, for guiding me into all truth that dislodges the schemes and lies of the enemy. Indeed the truth of Your word is the lamp upon my feet and the light unto my path. Thank You for Your unfailing love that empowers me to take one step forward at a time without fear in my heart knowing that YOU are always with me, upholding me with Your righteous right hand. Amen!
