“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” (John 1:1-5)
I was reading the book of Smith Wigglesworth one morning and in it was a story about a sick man who came to him and said, “Can you help me?”
Smith Wigglesworth’s words so pierced my heart when he said, “Could I help him? Look! This Book can help anybody. This Book is the essence of life. GOD MOVES AS YOU BELIEVE. This Book is the Word of God. Could I help him?”
The very moment I read that portion, “This Book is the Word of God” referring of course to the Bible, there was something powerful that clicked within me. In an instant I thought … “oh my … the words in the Bible is the Word of God!” Duhhhhh! It became a “literal translation” for me. How it shifted my reverence for the Word that every time I now open the bible, I choose to hear Him speak. Yes, it is Him speaking. Those words are no longer just prints but living words of life that change and transform us. How the Holy Spirit breathes into each word that touches the very core of our beings beyond comprehension.
That night before I went to bed, I opened my Bible and again I saw something extremely powerful.
“Heaven and earth will disintegrate before even the smallest detail of the Word of God will fail or lose its power.” (Luke 16:17 TPT)
I asked, “why will heaven and earth disintegrate? Hmmmm … because heaven and earth were spoken into existence. The Word of God was released and the world was formed. We live in the world that was made by the Word of God.
If we go back to Genesis Chapter 1 – The History of Creation, everything was formed when “God SAID … and it was so as He spoke.”
In truth, even the sustenance of how the whole universe functions is continually supported and sustained by those initial Words that God spoke.
“The Son is the dazzling radiance of God’s splendor, the exact expression of God’s true nature – His mirror image! HE HOLDS THE UNIVERSE TOGETHER AND EXPANDS IT BY THE MIGHTY POWER OF HIS SPOKEN WORD.” (Hebrews 1:3 TPT)
“He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, UPHOLDING AND MAINTAINING AND GUIDING AND PROPELLING THE UNIVERSE BY HIS MIGHTY WORD OF POWER.” (Hebrews 1:3 AMPC)
Simply put in the Message Paraphrased, “The son perfectly mirrors God, and is stamped with God’s nature. HE HOLDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER BY WHAT HE SAYS, POWERFUL WORDS!“
The powerful revelation that I got from this is that, “If we think that the Word of God is void of power or it fails to perform as expected, this is ONLY POSSIBLE after we see heaven and earth disintegrate.
“Heaven and earth will disintegrate before even the smallest detail of the Word of God will fail or lose its power.” (Luke 16:17 TPT)
Indeed, nothing has been made that has not been made by the Word of God. (John 1:3) His Word is SUBSTANCE. It is an EVIDENCE of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) It brings about what we cannot see and brings into manifestation what was once not there.
Hmmmm …. this revelation indeed powerfully renewed my mind and catapulted beyond measure how I believe in the spoken truth of God’s word.
“For the Word that God speaks is alive and FULL OF POWER [making it active, operative, energizing and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the diving line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 AMPC)
Back to his book, the man who asked Smith Wigglesworth, “Can you help me?”, could not swallow, thus, the doctors made a hole in his stomach where he could drink and be fed. Smith instructed him to go home and eat a good supper. His wife prepared food in spite of being puzzled by such thought, but the man could not be stopped and ate until he was full.
The next morning the man was so full of joy because he had eaten again. He looked down out of curiosity to see the hole and found that GOD HAD CLOSED IT UP!
God totally healed the man because Smith believed in the Word of God that he himself could not be shaken of any situation that comes before him. When the Word of God says, “He heals!”, he believed beyond a shadow of a doubt and saw what was spoken. And because he so influenced the sick man who went home and obeyed what was instructed, healing manifested.
Believe in the Word of God and let it have the final authority in our lives. If the Lord magnified His Word above His name, how much more for us?. (Psalm 138:2) His Word is SETTLED in heaven (Psalm 119:89), and so let it be settled in our hearts where His kingdom dwells.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your never-ending pursuit of being powerfully made known to those You call Your own. What You have spoken into our lives are indeed upheld and sustained by Jesus, Who is the Word of God made flesh. Thank You for calling us Your sons and daughters and nothing and no one can reverse nor revoke what has been declared over us. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for continuously pouring out revelation upon revelation. Indeed, man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Amen!
