The Word is the will of God. The Word is the wisdom of God. The Word is full of the thoughts of God. The Word is His way. It is His book of instructions and corrections. It is the manual of life. If we desire to live a life of victory, it can never be attained apart from the Word of God. We are to give His Word the ultimate authority in our lives.
“Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes.” (Romans 12:2 TPT)
We live because He speaks. His Words are spirit and life. His Word gives health to our flesh and strength to our bones. His Word is the lamp upon our feet and the light unto our path. His Word is living and powerful. His Word heals. His Word comforts. His Word brings joy. His Word is peace. His Word is wisdom. His Word clears our minds from confusion. His Word brings hope. “He sent His Word to heal us and deliver us from all destruction.” (Psalm 107:20)
Do you know how powerful His Word is when it is mixed with faith, when it is believed, received, declared, and obeyed? It has limitless power. When God Who is Omnipotent, the ALL-MIGHTY AND ALL-POWERFUL GOD speaks, everything trembles in submission to His Word.
“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3 NKJV)
The Passion Translation says, “Faith empowers us to see that the universe was created and beautifully coordinated by the power of God’s words! He spoke and the invisible realm gave birth to all that is seen.“
Come to think of it, in Genesis, when God spoke, the universe was created. And what was created still stands to today. “He sustained the universe by the word of His power.” (Hebrews 1:3) His Word is the same yesterday, today and forever. He promised that “His covenant He will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of His lips. Once He has sworn by His holiness, He will not lie.” (Psalm 89:34-35)
The beauty of walking with our Lord Jesus Christ is that He allows us to tap into His thoughts and His ways that are higher by the power of His Word. The secret is to spend time and dwell in the secret place of His presence where He reveals to us the truth of Who He is, what it means to have Him as our Lord and Savior, what He had finished and accomplished, what He is able and willing to do for us because He loves us. All these are found in His Word and how He wills it to made known to us, only if we fight to find time be with Him in His presence. Oh how He unveils our eyes to see the beauty of who we are in Him, how precious we are to Him and how mindful He is of us in the power of His written Word. We can never confidently think what He thinks of us without His Word.
“You can buy two sparrows for only a copper coin, yet not even one sparrow falls from its nest without the knowledge of your Father. Aren’t you worth much more to God than many sparrows?” (Matthew 10:29 TPT)
What has He spoken or promised to you that is congruent to His Word? Always be reminded that His Will is the Word, hence, when it is His Will, it SURELY will come to pass. When it is His Will, He wills it. He is willing to fulfill it. When we know that He is willing, our confidence and expectation rise up to a different level.
Without a doubt, all of us believe that God is able. That with God, all things are possible. But the issue lies whether we believe that He is willing to do it or not. When know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He is willing, then, there is nothing impossible to those who believe.
I want to share with you a testimony of a dear friend.
This testimony is personally written by him.
“Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” He said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.” (Matthew 8:3)
On July of 2017, my life changed. I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Upon learning this, I was floored. Immediately I thought about who would take care of my 76 year old Aunt who took me in as a child and raised me as her own. Who would look after my 10 year old niece?
Subsequent visits to the doctor led me to more fear. I needed 2.2 million Philippine Peso (approximately US$44,500) for six sessions. I did not even have money to pay for my bills then. My heart just broke into small pieces day by day.
Thankfully, my mother found another doctor for me and looking back I think God placed this oncologist in my life because he had the anointing from Him.
I then started the process of selling my car to pay for 2 chemo sessions. I also then started to broach the idea of selling our house for my chemo, but my aunt outright said “no”.
I was then a Sunday church attendee and a little prayer of thanks here and there. But just like the cliché in movies, after my diagnosis, I started praying, asking God to hold my breaking heart in His hands every night.
After 2 sessions of chemo, I ran out of money once again. The lump in my neck disappeared and I claimed healing. And just like the movies, I went back to being a Sunday church goer again, but then I realized something was amiss. I could not put my finger to it, but I was no longer comfortable being a Sunday devotee. I started watching Joel Osteen, as I was introduced to his preachings by a friend a couple of years before my diagnosis. And I started devouring Youtube sermons of Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer.
During our annual Christmas Party on December 2017, a friend approached me and encouraged me to pray to a “saint”. I responded out rightly, “Why don’t I pray to Jesus directly because healing comes from Him?”
By June of 2018, the tumor on my neck was back bigger than ever. By August of 2018, I was in such pain that I had to close my business that I ran alone. Shortly after, the pain became unbearable that I would scream in pain. It felt like the tumor was ripping my brain in two.
God is so good that a friend gave me 200,000 Philippine Peso (US$4,000) for chemo and on September of 2018, I had my fist chemo again.
During my confinement, my other aunt and her friend came to pray for me. And I’d like to think that they came to seal the deal. That visit changed my life. My aunt’s friend said that I looked like I had so much joy and peace. Little did she know then that when I was looking at her and said to myself I want what she has, her trust and faith in Jesus.
By the end of September, the tumor swelled out of my neck and started becoming an open wound. From this part onwards, God showed His hand in my life and I could not deny it. On October, I needed another chemo, a make or break chemo, because it meant if I could not make it, I would start from the beginning again. That week, I only had 25,000 (US$500) Philippine Pesos. I kept praying to God and I was sure that He would multiply it. Because I had already been filled with His Word daily, and more people came to know of my condition, friends who I had falling out with suddenly called and just over one night my 25,000 became 600,000 (US$12,000). That was beyond a shadow of a doubt God’s hand. So on the day itself, I went to the hospital with confidence.
As I was waiting in hospital, I overheard a couple being denied chemo for lack of money. I could not help it, so I talked to the cashier and offered to pay for their deficit and gave more for their food and transportation.
Six hours later when my chemo was finished, it was supposed to cost me around 220,000 Philippine Pesos (US$4,400), but when the bill was handed to me, it was only 137,000 (US$2,700). I had the bill double checked but it was really the final cost. To this day, we still could not get an explanation why my bill was surprisingly lowered, except that it was again our God.
My last chemo was done in January 2019 and my doctor said, “God loves you very much.” He further said that the last 2 sessions had a risk of heart failure and I went through it like nobody he ever seen, with no side effects, no weight loss, no nausea, nothing.
Again, I knew God was holding my heart. Matthew 8:3 really left a word in me when Jesus said, “I am willing.” All through my 2 year journey, it all made sense to me. I prayed, I cried, I begged, when all I should have had was faith because He was and is willing. He was not only willing to heal my body, but He was also willing to forgive me, to wash away my sins, and to teach me daily how to be like Him and daily bless me. His willingness takes the limits off what He can do in my life. It gives Him space to move freely in my life and show Himself to me daily. And most of all, it gives Him the right to love me just like how the Father loves His children.
Jesus has always been willing. I just have to realize and have a personal revelation of it. Once my eyes was unveiled, the best ride in my Christian life began.
On my third Christian Service, I suddenly saw myself in front accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior. And nothing has been the same.
Real faith can ONLY begin with the will of God is known. When my friend came to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus is willing, his faith catapulted up to the point of becoming unstoppable. Jesus has spoken His willingness. Once spoken, He gave us the invitation to believe and have faith in what He said which is the truth.
Indeed, faith can only explore what the Holy Spirit has revealed to us. Faith is NEVER wishful thinking. Instead, it is a SURE thing. It is an assurance of what is to come. Faith is anchored in the Word of God. His promises are our foundation and the strength of our faith will be equivalent to our revelation in His Word.
“Now faith is the ASSURANCE (the CONFIRMATION, the TITLE) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].” (Hebrews 11:1 AMPC)
The only thing God wants us to work at is our faith and confident assurance that His Word WILL do what He says He WILL do, that we can confidently say to Him, “Be it done to us according to Your Word, Lord.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that You have given us a hearing heart that we may be able to receive every word that proceeds from Your mouth by the power of Your Word revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. Thank You, Jesus, for being “the Word made flesh Who dwelt among us”, that by the demonstration of how You lived Your life on earth is the exact representation of Who the Father is and His willingness to save us, to heal us, to comfort us, to protect us, to provide for us and to be with us always. Thank You, Holy Spirit, that a life of victory in every way everyday is made possible for us as You fill and flood us with the richest measure of Your divine presence that we get to be a body wholly filled and flooded with Yourself. Have our way in us as we invite You to make the Word of God the final authority in our lives. Only by Your grace will our hearts be truly influenced by You, for it is not by might nor by power, but only by Your Spirit. Amen!
