What do we do when our expectation does not come to fruition no matter how insignificant it may seem?  We may be disappointed or frustrated.  But one thing that I always get reminded of is that WE REJOICE ALWAYS, PRAY WITHOUT CEASING, IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).  We may be disheartened at one point, but we are not to pitch a tent in that downhearted phase.  We know for sure that at a designated moment, God will turn things around for our favor and will shower us with the desires of our hearts.
