The victory that Jesus purchased for you and me is purposed for us to reign in life as we submit to the Lordship of King Jesus. Submission to the King of kings and Lord of lords postures us to triumph at all times.
“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 NLT
When we submit to God, our situations will submit to the words that we declare. His word says … “The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind.” Psalm 115:16 NIV As Bill Johnson says, “your shadow will always release what overshadows you.”
His word also says, “You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.” Job 22:28 AMPC
Just as the centurion said that he is a man under authority thus he has authority over his soldiers.
“But the officer said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my home. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this,’ they do it.” Matthew 8:8-9 NLT
To reign in life doesn’t always mean you’ll get what you want every time. But it lies in the position of our hearts on how we respond to what has been done to us or to the situation we’re in.
Overcoming evil with good is one. It is when we put weight and choose to let LOVE WIN than pushing ourselves to win over a person that results in division, separation and offense because all we want is to see who is right. SEE that even if we lose, our identity in Christ doesn’t change and that guarantees our security in Him. Once we’re established in our identity that HE LOVES US no matter what, nothing else matters and that empowers us to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8). We choose to walk in peace. That is reigning in life.
Another is when we are able to joyfully rejoice in spite of our circumstances parking temporarily in our lot. We all know that it is easy to thank and praise God when what we’re seeing is what we want to see. But will we still be able to lift our hands in praise when all hell break loose before us? When we do, then we are reigning in life knowing that He Who began a GOOD WORK in us is faithful to finish it in victory. It may take time but patience and endurance develop our strength of character that positions us to confidently have an expectation of good.
When our prayers aren’t yet manifesting, waiting on the Lord is another way of reigning in life. It is when our focus and affections are set like flint to trust God in spite of. He knows what is best for us and when is the perfect time for it to come to pass. Surely He doesn’t hide the answers FROM us but He does hide it FOR us for our own benefit. We’ve got to trust in His love for us that His answers to our prayers will propel us to move forward than to our detriment. He is all committed to our good. He is that good.
Reigning in life is not just thanking God for what we are seeing but also for what we aren’t. It is believing in the truth that He’s got our back covered all the time. We may be sitting in traffic late for an appointment but we may not know what lies ahead that He is protecting us from. He is the wall of fire around us that burns anything that doesn’t bring Him pleasure in our lives. He made us sit IN CHRIST, far above principalities and dominions of the darkness, at the right hand of our Heavenly Father where pleasures are forevermore. ONLY and SURELY goodness and mercy shall pursue us all the days of our lives is His desire for us.
In spite of what we are going through, the words that are released from our mouths that come from the abundance of our hearts matter. What are we speaking and declaring? Be mindful and listen to what words we are hearing from our mouths for dominion over our situations are greatly influence by it. Remember that what we declare we will see.
Choose to focus on the love of God for all things work together for the good of those who love Him. Let us always be thankful for where we are and what we have. He always have a GOOD reason for everything. After all He is God, we are not, and He deeply loves us.
Believe in His goodness.
Believe in His faithfulness.
Believe in His great love for you and me.
Reigning in life is when HIS LOVE ANSWERS IT ALL.
