When in doubt, look up and look at the stars in the heavenlies and be reminded that God created them into existence and sustained them to today by the word of His power.
Abraham did. A promise to have a son was spoken and though he was well advanced in age and so was Sarah, Abraham most probably looked up and looked at the stars and strengthened himself in the Lord than looking down to his and Sarah’s body that were beyond in their ability to conceive. The Lord’s grace was demonstrated when He brought and caused Abraham to see the stars when the promise was spoken. He dared to believe and fully trusted God to do what ONLY HE CAN DO!
“Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” And he BELIEVED in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.” Genesis 15:5-6 NKJV
Believing is making a decision to live not by what we see and perceive by our physical senses banking on what we can do apart from God. It is in being fully persuaded that what God has spoken and promised, HE is faithful to do!
“Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].” (Hebrews 11:1 AMPC)
When the Lord spoke to Abraham telling him, “I have made you a father of many nations”, he believed God without bashing an eyelash. He so believed in the One Who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Though his bodily state was contrary to hope, yet in hope he believed. I love how Abraham strengthened himself by giving glory and praise to the One Who is faithful and true to His promise.
“No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God, fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised.” (Romans 4:20-21 AMPC)
Our praises to the Living God keeps us on track. It keeps our focus on His willingness and ability to do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond what we can dare think, dream or imagine. He inhabits our praises and in His presence is where FULLNESS OF JOY is found. And the JOY of the Lord is our STRENGTH.
What promises are you holding on to come to pass? Healing? Financial breakthrough? Restored relationship? Whatever it is, let us keep our hopes high banking on the One Who is a promise-keeper. Jesus is our Hope of Glory Who never disappoints all because He so loves us.
“Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.” (Roman 5:5 AMPC)
I had an allergy once caused by a spray starch and was healed. Praise the Lord. But lately, it seemed to be coming back and that somehow confused me. My mind had numerous questions what happened.
One night as I was walking, I saw the constellation “Big Dipper” shining so prominently that caused me to remember the Lord’s promise to Abraham that kept him strong.
I said to myself, when symptoms try to appear in your body again, be fully persuaded that no affliction will rise up against you the second time (Nahum 1:9), for what Jesus has paid for, it was paid in full, lacking nothing!!! When we say it’s fully paid, there’s nothing more left for us to pay. There is nothing pending! He said, “IT IS FINISHED!” Then, the peace of God settled in my heart.
There is no room for confusion when our thoughts get aligned to His. When we camp around the Living Word, Jesus personified, we touch Him in faith and posture ourselves to explore and experience what He promised.
Worry and anxiety only come when our our minds and hearts are swayed away from the presence of God. When we focus more on the tangibility of our challenges which are TEMPORARY, subject to change, we get fearful and doubtful. But God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love ALWAYS comes to our rescue and sends signals to catch our attention back into His presence. In my case, He made me look up while walking to see the constellation and quickened me to remember what He did to Abraham. Oh what JOY He filled my heart and raised my confidence up that dissipated my fears and doubts KNOWING that He is my Healer Whose healing speedily manifests.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for always looking after us, your children, wooing us back into the awareness that You never sleep nor slumber. Thank You, Jesus, for always whispering into our weary and doubtful hearts, “Come to Me you who are weary and heavily laden and I will give you REST!” Thank You, Holy Spirit for always unveiling our eyes to see what needs to be seen at the right time that when we go back and remember what Jesus accomplished at His suffering, death and resurrection, surely it will shoot adrenaline into our souls causing us to be strengthened with JOY unspeakable. Amen!
