I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well. (Psalm 139:14)
God didn’t just create us wonderfully and marvelously. He also created us uniquely and extraordinarily.
One of the most amazing thoughts of how extraordinary we are is that we have been created according to His image and likeness. No other creation has this privilege and for me, the most powerful way to discover who we really are is when we come to know Who He is. The more we know Him, the more we know who we are IN HIM.
Created according to His image and likeness means we get to mirror Him. We get to talk like Him, move like Him, think like Him and LOVE LIKE HIM. We have been wired to be imitators of Him. The beauty of this reality lies on the thought that we can never do it in and of our own ability. In the flesh, we are limited, but by the Spirit of God, He takes us from strength to strength, from beauty to beauty, from faith to faith and from glory to glory. It is He Who is effectually at work in us, creating in us and energizing us both TO WILL and TO DO what He has called us to do and who He has called us to be for His own pleasure, satisfaction and delight. No one has arrived yet. We all are a work in progress, but thank God that it is He Who perfects that which concerns us. All we need to know and do is bask in His presence and stay constantly and consistently connected to Him. We are to renew our minds by meditating His Word day and night, night and day, that we may observe and do all that is written in it, and reflect Who He is in this world. As He is, so are we, being like-minded, having the same love, being one with Him, fellowshipping with the Holy Spirit.
Being extraordinary means that no one is exactly like you and me. We are all created uniquely that not even identical twins are alike. No one has your fingerprints, nor your irises. No one has the sound of your voice nor your intricately designed eyebrows :-). God destroyed and threw the mold after He created you. And the best part of it is that no one has the same purpose as you do. Our God is a God of purpose. No one just popped into this world without it. It is our journey to discover why we have been placed on this earth and once we have unearthed and zeroed in the reason of our existence, the joy that will fill our hearts will be indescribable and inexhaustible.
Being extraordinary means that we are to love one another and live for each other. No man is an island. We may have different giftings, callings and anointings but given to us by One God. We are never to compare with one another for God has put and positioned us in a different race, a different lane, a different destiny. To each his own and everyone is a supply. God’s good plan is so huge that each one of us has a part to play. We are never meant to compete but to complement and the most powerful force that glues us all together is His deep love for us. Love unites.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,” (Philippians 2:3 NIV)
Being extraordinary means seeing everyday as an extraordinary day. A lot of times our lives may seem ordinary especially when we see how routinely our day goes. We wake up, freshen up, eat breakfast, go to work, come home from work, have dinner and go to bed. If we do things apart from being aware of His presence in our lives, ordinary is the word to describe such.
I asked the Lord one morning on how to make my day extraordinary. How simple His answer may seem, but it impacted my perception from that day onwards! He simply said, “Haven’t you noticed that no matter how routine your day goes, no two days are alike? You meet different people. You drive to work with different kinds of drivers around you. The people you work with may be the same everyday, but you deal with them so differently each time. Your challenges and breakthroughs are different each day. But most of all, you have an extraordinary day when you realize that you are breathing “FREE” air for you to live. Most people take this for granted until they find themselves breathing “PAID” air in a green oxygen tank. When you press in to find the extraordinary in your day, it will cause your heart to burst with THANKSGIVING!”
Thanksgiving allows our thoughts to be refocused on His goodness that fills our hearts with joy. Daily we give thanks because each day is His gift to us. Daily we give thanks because He is with us. Daily we give thanks because He loves us. Daily we give thanks because His mercies are new every morning. Daily we give thanks because He graces us to walk and talk with Him in the cool of the day. Daily we give thanks because He strengthens us and sees us through with guaranteed victory because Jesus won it all for us.
As we acknowledge Him in ALL of our ways, we find ourselves extraordinarily cared for, amazingly thought of, greatly blessed, highly favored and deeply loved.
Being extraordinary means that He gave us an identity that is unearned, unmerited and undeserved. To be called “by name” to be the sons and daughter of the MOST HIGH GOD, that surely is above and beyond extraordinary. He gave Himself to us as our Good Good Father Who is always looking out for the best of His children. He sees us extremely valuable that the price He had to pay was to send His only Son, Jesus, to us so that an intimate relationship between Him and us can be achieved, experienced, gloriously partaken and enjoyed.
Yes, you and I are extraordinary beings living an extraordinary life every single day. Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You, for opening my eyes to see how special I am before Your eyes. Thank You for Your extraordinary love for me that You never withheld anything from me, not even Your Son Jesus Christ Whom You allowed to suffer and die for me that I may have an extraordinary life. Thank You, Jesus, for giving me Yourself, breathing into me this beautiful gift of life. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for revealing to me the truth of how extraordinary I am. It is You Who made me who I am. Amen!
What a beautiful way to start this week! God bless you!
