Incorruptible: everlasting, not subject to death or decay, not susceptible to corruption, honest, honorable, trustworthy, high-principled, moral, ethical good, good, virtuous, imperishable, indestructible, indissoluble and enduring
“Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever …” (1 Peter 1:22-23 NKJV)
“Now, because of your obedience to the truth, you have purified your very souls, and this empowers you to be full of love for your fellow believers. So express this sincere love toward one another passionately and with a pure heart. For through the eternal and living Word of God you have been born again. And this “seed” that He planted within you can never be destroyed but will live and grow inside of you forever.” (1 Peter 22-23 TPT)
In this world, nothing lasts forever. Everything is bound to end. No wonder His word always reminds us …
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)
I was reminded of this recently when I heard a friend of mine talking about how fearful someone is whom she knows. How careful she is with regards to her beautifully captured photos saved in a hard disc. Why? Because it is her treasure and she never wanted them to be corrupted. Such is fully understandable in this world.
I was in the same exact position years ago. I had stored up hundreds of praise and worship songs and anointed teachings in my 128gb ipod. It was such a treasure to me. Until one day while I was walking I heard a click sound and that was it. When I checked and came to know that my ipod crashed, I literally felt like blood came rushing up to my face and colored it red. I couldn’t believe what I just saw. At one point, I even asked the Lord “why?” I gave Him reasons that now seem so hilarious to think of. I told the God of the universe that I was learning to know Him, that I was soaking in those songs and words spoken to grow deeper in Him. Ohh … I had all sorts of reasons.
A few months later, I felt a tug in my heart regarding my all original collection of cds. They were such of importance to me that I became like a librarian :-). I listed all of them down and numbered them. When someone comes to borrow one, she or he has to sign an index card with the date and signature to make sure I will have it back. But then again, one day the Lord impressed in my heart to get rid of them. I was again reasoning out why I needed to keep them. I told Him .. “but Lord, most of my cds are praise and worship songs.” Hmmmm …
In the midst of both situations, the Lord’s gentle whispers which seemed “magnified and amplified” won my heart when He said, “they are becoming your treasures.” Later on I realized that He has taken me to the next level of my relationship with Him. Instead of depending so much on those songs and preachings, He desired for me to soooo grow deep in the knowledge of Him intimately and experientially that will cause my heart to sing my own songs and express through words how He touches my heart and reveals His word that will last forever. He desires for me to be sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency.
Ohhhh … so this is what it means when the implanted word of God has rooted and grounded deeply in our hearts that we shall see the growth from it being a seed until it starts to bear fruit in our lives as the Holy Spirit unveils our eyes to see and opens our hearts to be touched by His presence.
“So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls.” (James 1:21 AMPC)
I am NOT saying that you are to get rid of your cds or mp3s. You can keep them if you like, but just don’t allow them to be a substitute to the REAL THING which is His presence in our lives. Now, I’m beginning to understand what it means not to live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Luke 4:4). He is always speaking, but are our ears inclined to listen?
In this day and age, the thief is everywhere that steals our JOY, our PEACE, our HOPE, our HEALTH, our LOVE. Name it, he’s after it. BUT the GOOD NEWS is that Jesus came that we may HAVE and ENJOY life.
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” (John 10:10 AMPC)
Sometimes we get consumed in seeking and thinking of ways and means to protect ourselves let alone what we own, most especially nowadays that everything is open and accessed in the internet which are proned to be hacked and stolen. Not just that, we have entered a season where even our own wills are slowly deceived without us knowing it. There has been many cases that people will just hand over their possessions at the sound of a person’s voice on the phone.
But God Who is RICH in mercy and ABOUNDING in love said that He is our protection, our Strong Tower where man runs to and be safe. The Blood of Jesus is our defense where the enemy trembles and can never come near. He is the wall of fire around us and glory within us. When we dwell in the secret place of the Most High God, abiding in the shadow of our God almighty whose power NO FOE can come against, who then can be against us? He is always FOR us!
“When the enemy shall come in, LIKE A FLOOD the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19)
And if in case we got deceived and the enemy has “seemingly and successfully” stolen from us, CHILLAX! His word says, when the thief is caught, he must pay back seven times what he stole. (Proverbs 6:31)
With God, we are in a WIN-WIN situation. It may SEEM like we are on the defeated side, but when we wait upon the Lord, when we acknowledge Him in our midst at all times that causes our hearts to praise Him for He is worthy of all that He has done, is doing and is going to do, waiting becomes exciting. He said, “Vengeance is Mine! I will repay!
“Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD.” Romans 12:19)
As we put our trust fully in the INCORRUPTIBLE word of God, surely it will save our souls. It will save us from worry and anxiety. It will put our hearts to rest and enable us to lie down in green pastures. It will allow us to lie down in the night and have a restful sleep. Then, we can ENJOY LIFE to the fullest in His presence where the FULLNESS of JOY is found.
Let us make Jesus, Who is the Word made flesh and dwelt among us, as our treasure where no amount of moth and rust can destroy and where thieves CAN NEVER break in and steal. Let our constant and consistent intimacy with Him and His word as we commune and fellowship with the Holy Spirit be our SURE and FIRM foundation, security and guarantee that will last forever. Jesus indeed is the same yesterday, today and forever.
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You, for Jesus, Whom You have given that we may be able to access Your throne with boldness and confidence. Our communion with You where Your presence embraces and clothes us is a matchless encounter that can never be substituted with anything that is bound for corruption. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for constantly and consistently taking us further and farther, drawing us nearer, expanding us wider and ascending us higher in the revelation knowledge of Jesus Christ that You allow us to witness and experience. Thank You, Jesus, for showing us the way and BEING The Way. Amen!
