“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” Romans 8:14 NKJV
I have been meditating on this verse lately and I have shared previously how the Holy Spirit revealed to me one of the effective ways how to be led by Him. He said, “you just need to keep reminding yourself that you are My child who has the ability to hear the voice of your Father. Quit striving to hear My voice. Rest in the truth that My sheep hear my voice. They know Me and they follow Me.”
Once a revelation comes to us, our faith arises and doors swing open to explore and experience what has just been revealed. We are all a work in progress, therefore we are all learning to hear Him, recognize Him and obey Him. The beauty of being loved by Him is that when we miss it, He is always there ever ready to lead us back to the right path. He leaves the 99 who are not lost to meet the one who is.
I believe this verse is not only for those who meet and encounter our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ for the very first time. It is also an assurance for us who are IN HIM that our Good Shepherd is always on a lookout for His own. His presence is always with us, guiding us and leading us to where we should go and to whom He will lead us to steward His goodness to so that they will taste and see how good He is.
Lately, I have been mindful of my schedule not to exhaust myself. I desire to have time to sit still and rest well. Thank God for the 4-day holiday weekend that we had.
At the end of the 4th day, I got a message from a dear friend asking me to help her do the Christmas decoration at her place of business. Of course my first thought was, “ohhhh no … I still want more time to rest”, but of course I said “yes”!
As time went by, I had to re-program my thinking. I had to convince myself that it is going to be okay and that I will have the strength that is sufficient for me to do it. I checked out the place and the resources that I was going to use and I found out that it wouldn’t take much of my time to do it at all. Sometimes our flesh reacts negatively way before getting into the reality and that is what actually gives us anxiety 😀😀😀.
The mystery of the unknown before us always initially catches us off guard and shakes us. But thank God for His word that when He we hear His still small voice speaking the Spirit-breathed word, it puts our hearts to rest. His word always brings light and deliverance to what is weighing us down.
His word says, “BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
Oh how my perspective changed that caused my heart to give thanks.
On the very day that I was scheduled to go, I woke up early. I got up and prayed. While I was in the midst of prayer, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see the real reason why I was to be in that place. He showed me how I would speak to the employees, encourage them and pray with them. Oh how my heart changed! The joy of the Lord so filled my heart that shoot adrenaline into my soul. I was strengthened just by the very thought of it. It was amazing!
Then, He said, “the joy of the Lord that filled your heart all because you have seen the PURPOSE why you are to be there is an illustration of the JOY that was set before Jesus that gave Him endurance and tenacity to go to the cross and yield to the will of the Father. The very REASON why He had to die a criminal’s death though He was an innocent Man strengthened Him because He knew that the very moment He says, “It is finished!”, you and I are given full access to the throne of God. He knew why He came and that is to give us LIFE and have it more abundantly, let alone Him being able to constantly and consistently live such abundant life with us. This inseparable truth filled Him with unspeakable joy and this very thought delighted Him without measure.
The degree of how joyful we are is congruent to the strength that is produced within us. No wonder His word says, ““My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:2-3 NKJV
Oh wow … what a glorious “download” He just gave.
His leading is not just to take us to a place, but to show us why we are in that place and His agenda always includes PEOPLE. In truth, He is always touching people through you and me. Yes, He will use our talents and abilities to get us to where we should be, but the very reason for every season is always PEOPLE.
Try to look back and recall events in your life. You may not know the reason at that time, but now that it has been revealed, you will come to realize that it is all about the people that you have met at that designated event in your life and how you became a blessing to them or how they became a blessing to you.
Bottomline, our journey in life is all about people and building relationships invaded by His kingdom’s culture and that is love.
God is love and love can never be activated and demonstrated without an object of affection. He FIRST loved us so we can love Him back and love others as our expression of our love for Him. His goodness displayed towards us and us diffusing His love to the ones He calls us to touch is the glory of His kingdom and He desires His glory to fill the earth as the waters cover the sea.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for this new revelation, this new and living way to perceive things through Your eyes of love. Thank You, Jesus, for demonstrating what agape love is up to the point of Your glorious death that redeemed us from the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of Your marvelous light. Thank You, Holy Spirit for leading us and gracing us to see where we are going and the reason why we are doing it and it is all about Your people who are called by Your name. Amen!
