Becoming Like Jesus

We become Who we worship!

Everyone worships!  SURPRISED?  Of course, we all worship … but the only difference is that … Who do we worship? or What do we worship?  Some worship Jesus!  Some worship money!  Some worship people!  Some worship even themselves!

Many of us think that worship is all about singing songs to the Lord.  This may be one of the expressions of worship but  WORSHIP IS AN EXPRESSION OF WHAT OR WHO YOU VALUE MOST!   Value means “to consider or rate HIGHLY”, to cherish, to prize, to treasure, to love, to appreciate.  Also, to put value means to put your TRUST on what or who you value.

Who you value most is measured by whom your time, treasure, talent and thoughts are spent.  The more you spend time with whom you value, you become like them.  Just observe yourself that when you value a certain celebrity, you would notice that you’ll spend time looking at their facebook page to know where they are, what they’re doing, what they’re wearing, who they’re with … and somehow you have the tendency to go where they go, do what they do, speak how they speak and even look for people whom they’re with just to know some inside information about them.  Don’t worry it’s a norm!  We are wired to value!

But, what if God is the One we value most?  What if we press in to know Jesus more and more in our everyday living?  What if we intentionally go deeper into the knowledge of Who He is … know His thoughts and His ways through the revelation that we get from Holy Spirit?

God is actually not looking for worship!  He is looking for WORSHIPERS! “But the hour is coming, and NOW IS, when the TRUE WORSHIPERS will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is SEEKING such to worship Him.” (John 4:23)   Do you know why? Because that’s who He created us to be … to worship Him to become like Him.  The more you know Him, the more you see His character formed in you.  I believe this is one of His utmost desires to see in us, to be formed and conformed according to His image and likeness TO CARRY HIS GLORY, HIS GRACE, HIS MERCY AND HIS LOVE wherever we go until the earth is filled with His glory as the waters cover the sea.
