In the Kingdom of God, it is extremely selfish to NOT want MORE! To not desire for increase is to live a life with limitations where in truth we have a limitless God Who owns everything. Hmmmm…..this may tweak your theology! But be of good cheer, God is gracious and merciful that He always meets us where we’re at, yet He delights when our thoughts get conformed to His, slowly but surely.
A lot of people think that Christians shouldn’t desire for more especially when it comes to money because the very verse that always pops up into our minds is that … “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:24 NIV). Well, if you trust in your own riches, it would be next to impossible. BUT with God, and you trusting solely on the finished work of Jesus Christ, even with all your billion dollars in your bank account, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! And yes, you can enter the Kingdom of God with Jesus as your Savior.
When we hear of famine and floods, how many of us desire to help, but most often than not our hands are tied because we only have enough for ourselves? We always point to our government, to NGOs, to the church, to the rich and famous for them to provide … and if we don’t see them move, we get disappointed! Why aren’t they doing anything? … is always the question. I believe it is but natural for us to feel what the victims are feeling but is there enough compassion in our hearts to get our hands and feet to move and make a difference? Possibly, yes! But the next question is … do we have more than enough to share? Or are we just having enough for ourselves?
I love this word that I just recently heard and had a revelation on. “Deal BOUNTIFULLY with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your word.” Psalm 119:17 (NKJV)
Yes, I am asking Daddy God to deal with me BOUNTIFULLY and pour ABUNDANCE on me if I’m going to do ALL that He has put in my heart to do so I can respond to what He speaks, respond to what I see, respond to what I hear, respond to the needs of those around me FULLY! But without His exceeding riches manifesting in my life, I am limited with what I have that deprives me from impacting those in need with His goodness.
We cannot give what we do not have. He gives us seeds to sow for Him to grow. “He is the One Who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, He will PROVIDE and INCREASE your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be ENRICHED in every way so that you can always be GENEROUS. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, THEY WILL THANK GOD” (2 Corinthians 9:10-11 NLT)
In our giving, two good things happen: the needs of people will be met and they will JOYFULLY express their thanks to God! Thus, giving glory to God! Don’t you know that when we give we demonstrate Who Jesus is in this world? When we speak His Word, we talk like Jesus! When we think His Word, we think like Jesus! When we walk His Word, we walk like Jesus! Let’s walk the talk and talk the walk just like Jesus!
Why not start now? We start with this prayer …
“Father, I thank You for opening my eyes to see that to desire for MORE is Your will in my life. Teach me to rightfully steward what You have given me that I may be able to sow the seeds that You have provided for me that will bring increase until my vats will overflow. Teach me to honor You with what You have given me by being a channel of blessings to those around me. Open my heart that I may see You providing and doing all these things IN me and THROUGH me that will cause me to CHEERFULLY GIVE knowing that YOU are the SOURCE OF ALL. Holy Spirit, have Your way in my heart that it may beat with the unforced rhythm of Your grace. This I ask in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen!”
