Prosperity Mindset

What does a prosperity mindset mean?  For me, it simply means that “everywhere I look, BLESSINGS!” (Amos 9:13 MSG)  It is a renewed mindset that sees possibility in the midst of impossibility by seeing a stumbling block as a stepping stone to victory.  It is a mindset that is grounded on the truth that God always causes us to triumph in Christ (2 Corinthians 2:14).  It is an established set of thoughts manifesting in attitudes that point to the lordship of Jesus Christ where our lives are graced to see things from the kingdom of God’s perspective.

When we wake up in the morning and view it as a wonderful blessing of a new day with His fresh and new mercies, that is a prosperous way of thinking.

When we drive to go somewhere, we see the blessing of convenience.

When we’re at work, we see the blessing of provision.

When we’re with our families and friends, we see the blessing of relationships.

When we’re at home, having a roof over our heads, we see the blessing of protection from all kinds of weather.

When we see someone in need, we take it as an honor and privilege to be His hands and feet to bless whatever the need be.

Prosperity mindset focuses on being thankful for what we have, not murmuring and complaining for what we don’t.  It is finding the treasures, the fingerprint of God’s hands everywhere we look.  It is a platform for us to recognize what we have and having a heart that beats in rhythm with His to be a blessing.

Poverty mindset on the other hand is being conscious of what one doesn’t have.  It is always a position on the receiving side and doing nothing about it.  It is a “self pity”, an inward-focused way of thinking.  It is inclining ones ears to the lies and whispers of the enemy that it is “IMPOSSIBLE” to give because of one’s “what about me” attitude.

We all have been given something and a measure of faith to do what we are called to do but unless our perception changes by changing the way we think, we get stuck to just be “mere” beings, where in truth He has created us to be peculiar ones.  We are a cut above people that He called His own.

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a PECULIAR people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9 KJV)

One day, I was meditating on the verse, “And my God shall supply ALL your need according to HIS RICHES IN GLORY by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NKJV).  I know that this was declared to the Philippians who provided for Paul, stated in verse 15 “Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving BUT YOU ONLY.”  That means this declaration was given to those who gave.

Lovers are givers.  God is love therefore He is the greatest giver of all and at all times.  No one can rival what He can do and no one can equal how He does it.  And the best part of the verse that caught my attention is … “according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.

What does it mean for Him to supply all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus?  It just simply means that whatever we need HE IS, nothing less than that.  He Himself is the answer to every need we have.  After all, He introduced Himself to Moses, “I AM THAT I AM!”, and in the same way He is making Himself known to us today.

This also means that when He meets our need, He always exceeds our expectations.  His provision is not based actually on our need but based on the greatness of Who He is.  How many times we prayed for something and when He answered He swept us off our feet because it was way beyond what we have expected?

I’ve known and seen a mother who is wealthy.  Though her sons aren’t yet walking in the path that she expected them to take on, she never stops providing for them.  Though they are off age and still wayward in their ways, she still is committed to give them all that they need.  Her sons live their lives simply in spite of them being wealthy.  But you know what I have noticed?  The quality and tag price of the things that the mother provided for her sons were not based on her sons’ way of living.  Instead, it was all based on what she is capable of giving and the willingness to do it for them all because of her unconditional love for them.  If this mother can do it, how much more our Heavenly Father will do it for us?

“If you then, evil (sinful by nature) as you are, know how to give good and advantageous gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven [perfect as He is] give what is good and advantageous to those who keep on asking Him.”  (Matthew 7:11 Amp)

His supply is inexhaustible and the quality is incomprehensible because IN HIM ALL THINGS CONSIST.   And the best part of it is that you and I are qualified to be partakers of His riches in glory of the inheritance of the saints (Colossians 1:12).  This only means one thing.  ALL THESE THINGS supplied to you and I are our inheritance.  We don’t push to live entitled to it but we rest in the truth that we are heirs, co-heirs with Christ, as sons and daughters of the Most High God.  We don’t work to be an heir but we believe and receive that that is who we are.  Our adoption papers were marked and sealed by the precious blood of Jesus and once stamped no one and nothing can alter it.   What God has blessed, no one can reverse.

This is having a prosperity mindset for me.  The Lord gives and we receive, and this postures us to be givers to those around us.  Prosperity is not just limited to money although it surely includes it.  Can you smile?  Someone you come across in the street may need it.  Can you tap one’s shoulder?  Someone may need just a touch of care.  Can you buy someone a cup of coffee and bless him or her with your precious time?  Someone may just need to talk things over.  Can you give to missions or ministries that spread the gospel around the world?  Someone out there may be in desperate need of the good news that brings hope to the hopeless.  However the Lord will use us, let’s just go ahead and do it with a prosperous mindset.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing to us how awesome a Father You are Who always meet our need according to Your glorious riches by Christ Jesus.  Thank you for assuring us with your promises that we will never be left unattended and unnoticed. We believe in the truth that You never sleep nor slumber and You always see us with knowledge and compassion Who answers our prayers way before us uttering them.  Thank You Holy Spirit for always unveiling our eyes to see more of Who our Loving Abba is.  We praise You, Lord, for being faithful and true and we exalt You to whom all glory is due.  Amen!
