You Are A Powerpoint!

Zechariah 8:23 “Let us go with you for we have heard that THAT GOD IS WITH YOU!”

Do you know how powerful our lives are supposed to be as believers?  We are carriers of His glory and goodness wherever we are at.  Never undermine the things that we do no matter how insignificant they may look or the words that we say regardless of how simple they may sound.  FUELED by His love they carry weight that can powerfully touch the ones around us.  Surely they are magnified before their eyes and amplified before their ears, for we are called and chosen to be diffusers of His love.  We are His presence-oozers, His love-carriers and His light-exuders.  We reflect Jesus Who lives inside us and Who is the Light of the world.  As He is, so are we.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)

Truly, when we get a revelation of a word spoken and breathed by the Spirit of God, it gets validated if we really believe it or not.  Sometimes it is awesome to think of how resistance could suddenly come along for our “heart-check”.

Today, I was ALL SET for the Jesus Festival conference tomorrow.  I got my registration ticket, my leave of absence approved and my schedule arranged together with my friends who are riding with me to and from the venue.  But at past 10pm, I got a call from my colleague that she is signing sick tomorrow due to fever.  Hmmmm …. of course without a blink of an eye I just said to go ahead and I will cancel my conference adventure.

A few minutes later, I inquired of the Lord and asked Him to show me the reason why, for I so believe that NOTHING JUST HAPPENS.  I know He always has the PERFECT REASON.

Of course, the first one that came along was the accuser of the brethren bringing an accusation-list that took me on a guilt trip.  Unknowingly I was flowing with him for a few minutes and then I realized that my peace of mind and the joy in my heart were slowly being sucked out of me.  Hmmmm … then I put on the brakes of thinking his way. Praise God for quickening me to discern the enemy’s scheme in which we are not to be ignorant of.

Another thought came in and because I so love conferences like these where I get to be enriched with His Word in His presence, maybe it is time for me to go into full-time ministry in church where I do not need to think of work while conferences are on going.  Hmmmm … possible but my heart was not quiet enough and settled.  I know in my heart this will happen in the future, but it is not so for now. Thank God for allowing me to see a glimpse of what is to come. For the time being there must be another reason that is yet to unfold.

I still continued to press in and know what the Lord is thinking.  And yes, when we ask He ALWAYS answers, as long as we find time to wait with utmost expectancy.  A few minutes later, I had this strong impression in my heart.  It was a very soft whisper that said, “You lose nothing if you cannot attend.  I still can enrich you in My presence and love you the same way.  What is more important is to be a diffuser of My love through caring for your colleague.  That is what love looks like.  That is what makes you a POWERPOINT that points to My goodness.  So be of good cheer!  IN ME, YOU LACK NOTHING!”  Then my heart was still, with my peace and joy fully restored.

A lot of times we think that the only way we can be enriched is by receiving preachings and teachings.  Yes we can to a certain degree but we do not limit God on how He can do so with us.  We tend to forget that when He speaks to us personally and directly, like a downloaded message straight into our hearts, it is much more powerful.  Thus, when He spoke to me to be of good courage and of good cheer to give up my desire and give way to His, I was enriched in such a very special and intimate way.

His way of enriching me this time is to enrich others.

“The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:25)

When Jesus sat down by the well in the town of Sychar in Samaria while His disciples had gone into the town to buy food had a conversation with a Samaritan woman.  By law, Jews were not supposed to associate with Samaritans, but Jesus was not bound by the law.  His ways and thoughts are way beyond our comprehension until they are being revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.

The powerful passage in John 4:1-26 denotes how the Samaritan woman had a very unique encounter with Jesus while she went to the well to draw water.  It was just an ordinary day for her, yet little did she know that she would be meeting the very person of Jesus, the Messiah, at the well that postured her to broadcast her divine encounter where she ended up telling her village about Him and they believed.

But what interested me most in this story was when the disciples came back and saw Jesus talking to the Samaritan woman.  SURPRISED?  Oh yes, His disciples were because they have been accustomed to the law of not associating with non-Jews let alone a woman.  But Jesus colored way out of the line.

“Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find Him talking with a woman.  But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?” (John 4:27)

When the woman went back to the town, the disciples now had their turn to speak to Jesus.

“Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”  But he said to them, I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”  Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”  “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish his work.”  (Jon 4:31-34)

For me, Jesus demonstrated the Father’s love for the Samaritan woman when He gave her the drink of living water, and such gesture was food to Him.  The Love of The Father flowed in and through Him restoring her as a daughter of the Most High God and welcoming the her into His Kingdom.

I believe we are called to be the same.  We get nourished when we nourish others. We give and it will be given back to us, a good measure pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into our laps. (Luke 6:38)

Indeed, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” (Winston Churchill)

We are signs and symbols from the Lord God Almighty (Isaiah 8:18) who are new creations in Christ, seated in the heavenly places, deployed to subdue the earth armed and fueled with His love. We are the temples of the Holy Spirit assigned to bring God’s kingdom invading the earth by touching the lives of others in ways that are custom-made by God for Him to encounter them through us.  It is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God.  He does it in and through us until the whole earth is filled with His glory as the waters cover the sea.

When things do not go as we expect them to be, we stop and seek Him.  His thoughts and ways are higher. His agenda has a more fulfilling and satisfying reason. We give when are privileged to give, may it be our time, our effort, our resources, our service, or whatever He has asked of us to give.  We become POWERPOINTS as we give.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, thank You for always ordaining our steps in which we know that it is ALWAYS for our good and for the good of those around us.  Thank You, Jesus, for ALWAYS assuring us that Your love is never diminished by what we do or do not do.  Thank You, Holy Spirit for revealing to us the answers to our inquiry that brings peace, joy and love in our hearts.  Amen!
