My Redeemer Lives

Because we live in this fallen and cursed world that we were born into after Adam’s disobedience, we gravitate towards the negative thoughts and happenings in our lives.  To live above and beyond them and be suspended and sustained in the thought of always be blessed requires much effort of strength.  Ohhhh … that’s what I used to think until I came across this new and fresh revelation of having Jesus Christ as my Redeemer Who lives.

“Christ has REDEEMED us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the BLESSING of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might RECEIVE the PROMISE of the SPIRIT through FAITH.”  “Galatians 3:13-14”

Just as God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21), Christ absorbed the curse of the law completely as He became a curse in our place, nailed it to the Cross so that all that is left for us to discover, explore, experience and express is the BLESSING of Abraham that are attainable and experientiable by FAITH.  He gave us a new and better covenant with better promises that are not achieved by works or by merit but by BELIEVING on the finished work of Jesus Christ.

“Faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” (Romans 10:17 NLT)

“Faith, then, is birthed in a heart that responds to God’s anointed utterance of the Anointed One.” (Romans 10:17 TPT)

“Faith proceeds from hearing, as we listen to the message about God’s Anointed.”  (Romans 10:17 The Voice)

The old covenant covers blessings and curses that will come upon those who are deserving.  If one does what God has commanded, one gets the blessing.  Otherwise, a curse will overtake that one who is worthy to be overtaken and proved guilty.  This is the reason why people are so afraid of God, let alone desires to know God.  One man’s offense over one law will put that man on the guilt trip over all the law, thus, it’s too impossible for man to obey all.

But the GOOD NEWS is that God sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus, because He sooooo loved the world, He sooooo loved you and I, that WHOEVER believes in Him should NOT perish but have eternal life (John 3:16) and “this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”  (John 17:3 NIV)  Jesus Christ did not come to abolish the law.  He came to fulfill ALL the law. (Matthew 5:17)

I so love the Message Paraphrase of Romans 10:4-17,

“But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it? That’s why Scripture exclaims,

A sight to take your breath away!  Grand processions of people telling ALL THE GOOD THINGS OF GOD!

But not everybody is ready for this, ready to see and hear and act. Isaiah asked what we all ask at one time or another: “Does anyone care, God? Is anyone listening and believing a word of it?” The point is: Before you trust, you have to listen. But unless Christ’s Word is preached, there’s nothing to listen to.”

Jesus Christ REDEEMED us by being made a curse.  He became a curse (having nothing, became bound, became sickness at the cross) that you and I become blessed (having everything necessary for life and godliness, being free, being healed and whole).  The cause of curse is sin and sin has been dealt with 2000 years ago when He Himself became sin that you and I become the righteousness of God in Christ.

REDEEMED (“Exagorazo” in Greek) – means bought out from under, taken away from the dominion of.  It implies a slave will be bought out by a NEW OWNER and WILL NEVER BE SOLD AGAIN.

When you and I surrender our lives to the LORDSHIP of Jesus Christ, who can snatch us away from Him?  Who can take us away from His eyes?  When we are His, in spirit and in truth, who can stop the blessings that He has in store for us?  He is even well able and willing to turn things around for our good.

It’s so funny to think that I’m more inclined to read and meditate Deuteronomy 28:1-14 which are the Blessings on Obedience.   Who wants to read and meditate on the verses after that which entails the Curses on Obedience?  hahahaha … It will not only keep me in guilt and condemnation, but it makes me weak and sick. hahahaha!  But when I came to know that I HAVE BEEN REDEEMED FROM THE CURSES ON DISOBEDIENCE by the power of Jesus Christ’s OBEDIENCE and Him fulfilling everything in the list for me, now, it gives me freedom to read and meditate them REVERSING everything from being cursed to being blessed.

In Deuteronomy 28:45, it says, “Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.  And they shall be upon you for a sign and a wonder, and on your descendants forever.”

Instead of reading it that way, because I have been REDEEMED from it and the DIVINE EXCHANGE has already taken place at the cross by the power of the Blood of Jesus Christ and the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit resident in me, I NOW read it this way …

“Moreoever ALL these BLESSINGS shall come upon me, pursue and overtake me, until I AM totally restored, victorious, an overcomer and more than a conqueror, because Jesus Christ obeyed, fulfilled and kept to this day and forever His commandments, His statutes which He commanded.  And they shall be upon me for a sign and a wonder, and on my descendants forever.”

With this, HOPE arose from hopelessness.  Jesus Christ indeed is the HOPE OF GLORY in us.  (Colossians 1:27)

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, how can I thank You enough for sending me Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to save and redeem me from the curse of the law.  Thank You, Jesus, for redeeming me by the power of Your love for the Father and Your love for me that You fully OBEYED every commandment and statute given that I may be FREE!  Be eternally my Lord, my Savior and my Redeemer as I surrender every fiber of my being to You.  Thank You, Holy Spirit, for revealing to me this truth of Jesus Christ being my Redeemer Who lives.  Truly it is You Who bears witness in my heart what is written in God’s word and makes it come alive within me and be lived through me in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
