What do you do when everything you’re hearing is all contrary to what you want to see? When all hell broke loose, how can you stay afloat when all else is pulling you down in the sea of helplessness and hopelessness?
Anything that we see that points and leads us to being hopeless and helpless is under the influence of a lie. Do you know why? Because JESUS is the HOPE of glory. Hope means a confident expectation of good. It is a joyful anticipation that the goodness of God is about to break forth as SURELY AS THE SUN RISES! That’s the kind of hope that we have IN CHRIST. It is not the hope that the world knows, not sure of anything, thus not expecting anything.
Secondly, God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable], a very present and well-proved help in time of trouble. (Psalm 46:1 AMP) God is a safe place to hide, ever ready to help when we need Him. How can one say that we are HELPLESS if HELP is always and forever available at the very break of day?
One thing He desires for us is to acknowledge Who He is and who we are IN HIM. When we come to intimately know deep within our hearts and practically know through experience Who He truly is, only then we can trust Him with His promises that are yes and amen! Knowledge begets trust! Even in our everyday dealings with men, to trust someone only comes when we know that particular person. Otherwise our guards are always up 24/7 never really wanting to give our 100% reliance on that person.
BUT God is worthy of our trust. He is not a man that He should lie nor a son of man that He should change His mind. (Numbers 24:19) We trust Him with all our hearts and we lean NOT on our own understanding. In ALL our ways let us acknowledge Him and He shall direct our paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge Him. As surely as the sun rises, He will appear; He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth. (Hosea 6:3 NIV)
I believe one of the powerful weapons that He has given us is the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God! It is in His word where we find confidence and security in this life. When we get rooted, grounded and founded on what He has spoken, we get to be like a house built on solid rock, the sure foundation, JESUS, the Rock of ages.
“Anyone who listens to My teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.” Matthew 7:24-25 NLT
I was with someone recently who seems to be in this “helpless and hopeless” situation. It felt like everywhere I looked and every word I heard were of those two words of defeat. My heart was looking up and looking for a doorway of hope and a ray of light to pierce in. I pressed in to ask the Lord, “what are YOU thinking at this very moment?” Allow me to think Your limitless thoughts and know Your limitless ways for they are higher than mine.
I woke up the next day filled and flooded with hope. His love abounded in me more and more that made me see in a different perspective. When we see through His eyes of love conforming into His knowledge and depth of His thoughts, He empowers us to discern what is best to do and to speak. He reminded me that day that my role is to hear, believe and give voice to His Word that He has already spoken. The major part is His part and that is to make manifest what I gave voice to. Then, I laid hands and prayed over the person, thanked God for what He is about to do and TRUST HIM COMPLETELY!
My motto in life when I hear an impossible situation is to boldly go and pray with this thought in mind … “what if they get healed?’ instead of “what if they don’t get healed.” We carry the life of Christ in us in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Actually, you and I have nothing to lose when we pray. We must see it as an honor, an opportunity and a privilege as channels for God to move. Praying for someone is NOT about us but it’s all about Him, allowing us to be His hands and feet diffusing His love for all mankind. It is about His Word wrapped in His love that never fails. The outcome of our prayers is all for His glory. HE IS GOD and we are not! We trust that ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR OUR GOOD!
God honors His Word above His name. (Psalm 138:2) He watches over His Word to come to pass. (Jeremiah 1:12) The word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. (Hebrews 4:12) He sent out His Word to heal us. (Psalm 107:20) The Word of God will NEVER fail. (Luke 1:37 NLT)
I went out that day armed with this powerful word that I am standing on. “Strong and powerful is HE Who OBEDIENTLY carries out His Word.” (Joel 2:11 Amp) It is He, the Almighty God, the ALL-POWERFUL ONE Who executes His Word into existence. He does it in the power of His love for us, the agape love that never fails, never gives up and never runs out on us.
Run to God! Run to His Word! Feed on His faithfulness! Trust Him!
“Trust [rely on and have confidence] in the Lord and do good;
Dwell in the land and feed [securely] on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself in the Lord,
And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.” Psalm 37:3-4 AMP
