No one can hide what is in our hearts. When we listen to what we speak, we know the hidden treasure within us. Same is true when we listen to other people speak in front of us, somehow we would know if what they are saying is in alignment to what is in their hearts. The fruit of our lips is always determined by where the root is extracting from, the soil of our hearts.
“A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.” (Luke 6:45 NLT)
I believe the only exception to this rule is when someone is so used to lying. When lying becomes a lifestyle, then it is hard for us to recognize if the person is telling the truth or not. In serious court cases, one even needs to undergo the lie detection exam to determine if the person is lying or not.
A polygraph, popularly referred to as a lie detector, measures and records several physiological indices such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and skin conductivity while the subject is asked and answers a series of questions. The belief underpinning the use of the polygraph is that deceptive answers will produce physiological responses that can be differentiated from those associated with non-deceptive answers. The world has its ways and means of determining lies which I believe comes from the wisdom of God downloaded to one person. There may be debates here and there if it needs to be used or not, but still its invention is to our advantage.
In the realm of the Kingdom of God, the person of the Holy Spirit living inside of us is the One Who convicts us. When we come to acknowledge, believe and know the One True God and His Son, Jesus Christ, Whom He sent, we are postured and privileged to be the temple of the Holy Spirit, the present day Godhead dwelling and abiding in us.
When we become more aware of Him, we become sensitive to what we think and what we say. As He is likened to a dove that takes flight at a slightest surprise, we can actually sense in our spirits when we violate Who He is, Who is the Revealer of truth. He is the Spirit of truth Who guides us into ALL truth (John 16:13). Mind you, He DOESN’T condemn us, but He convicts our hearts and guides us back on track, in the right way we should think and speak.
His leading is not just about lies, lies and sweet little lies, but He also leads us to level up to what He thinks. He invites us to think His thoughts as we take time to be in the secret place where He reveals to us His thoughts and woos us to execute these into His ways.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV
He is always on a lookout for us to practically through personal experience His presence as we live our everyday lives. He desires to be part of what we do, think, imagine and plan. He desires to be inquired of because He knows that if we do, we won’t our waste time, energy and money to do what we think is good in comparison to His thoughts and ways that are the BEST. He is so mindful of us that everywhere we look we would be reminded that He is all around us when our eyes are filtered to see beauty in every way.
I was in a 3-day event that showcased fine collectibles and rarities in a hotel. On the first day, the three of us who were manning our booth felt like it was just an event where people just look, pass by and not buy. It seemed like it was just for exhibition purposes for our company to be made noticed and known that we carry these kinds of items. But during my lunch break, I simply inquired of the Lord. I said, “How can I change the direction of this event for us, from being an exhibit into having a profit?”
The strong prompting within me said, “You have to change the way you think and speak about this fair. When your thoughts change and those thoughts become substance in your heart, the moment you speak, it will change the atmosphere and sale will come.”
I went back to our booth with a renewed thinking, a changed heart and a different declaration. Moments later, sale came. Hallelujah!
“And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Luke 11:9 ESV
When we ask, He answers and shows us great and mighty thins that we don’t know. When we inquire of Him, He will unveil our eyes to see what He is seeing, hear what He is speaking and speak what we are hearing.
Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer,
The Holy One of Israel:
“I am the Lord your God,
WHO TEACHES YOU TO PROFIT,
Who leads you by the way you should go. (Isaiah 48:17 NKJV)
As I was meditating on what just happened, I realized that to declare without substance won’t work. It will be like shooting a gun without a bullet. But when you know you have a target and a bullet in a gun, when you shoot, there is going to be a manifestation. When we declare, our words, our thoughts and the meditation of our hearts are to be aligned for it to have dunamis power to manifest what we are believing for.
Speak pure, precious, pleasant and profitable words, free from dross and seasoned with salt and grace for “the words of the godly are like sterling silver” (Proverbs 20:20 NLT).
Prayer: Father, thank You for this revelation of how powerful our words are, coming from the thoughts that we think and from the abundance of our hearts. Thank You, Jesus, for Your finished work. Apart from You, we would not have the privilege and honor to be the dwelling place of Holy Spirit Who is the Revealer of all truth, Who guides and directs our steps that we may live our lives on purpose. Holy Spirit, continue to work in our hearts that we may come to be more and more sensitive to Your leading, positioning us to be at the right place at the right time, doing the right thing with the right heart that You may be glorified in our lives, in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
