Prayer is powerful. The reason why it is so is because prayer is communing and communicating with our God ALMIGHTY Whose power no foe can come against and has ABSOLUTE power over all.
“The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God–it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].” JAMES 5:16 AMP
Prayer is being with God and enjoying His presence in thanksgiving, praise and worship. It is being aware of and acknowledging His presence in our midst that brings an overwhelming love, peace, joy, comfort, satisfaction and delight in our hearts. It is a powerful time spent when not a single millisecond is wasted even when we fellowship in His presence without agenda but simply being with Him.
Prayer is agreeing with God. It is when we meditate on His word day and night, seeking Him in His revealed word unveiled freely to us by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit that changes and renews the way we think and leads us to have good success.
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you[a] shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)
Prayer is asking our Omnipotent God big, bold and audacious prayers believing in the truth that ALL THINGS are possible with God and that NOTHING is impossible to those who believe. The invitation to step out of the boat in faith is issued in times when our hearts are yielded into His greatness that He can do anything, therefore we can ask anything in Jesus’ Name.
The challenge lies in the truth of His sovereignty. Only He knows when and how He will answer them. This is where our TRUST in Him, in His love, in His goodness, in His mercy and in His faithfulness is exercised, leaning not on our own understanding. We TRUST in His utmost divine ability to order our steps every step of the way fully knowing that He has got the very best interest of us. It is a kind of TRUST when our hearts are so enthralled in His love that we no longer question Him but wait upon Him, looking unto Him, beholding His beauty Who holds us close to His heart.
The beauty of prayer is this confidence that we have that He hears us when we call upon Him.
“This is the [remarkable degree of] confidence which we [as believers are entitled to] have before Him: that if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us. And if we know [for a fact, as indeed we do] that He hears and listens to us in whatever we ask, we [also] know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted to us] the requests which we have asked from Him.” (1 John 5:14-15 Amp)
One of the biggest questions we all face is … “Is what I’m asking for according to His will or not?” I so believe that when our hearts are constantly and consistently connected to Him, it is unlikely for Him to lead us into asking for prayers contrary to His will. Surely He will put desires in our hearts that line up with His that when we ask, it will put a big smile on His face, so delighted to bring it to pass.
This is the very reason why many of us are fearful to ask. Hmmm … fearful if our prayers will not be granted. Have you ever thought of … “what if they will be granted?” We have nothing to lose, am I right? But you know what? We are all a work in progress. When we grow in the knowledge and revelation of how much He loves us, fear gets crippled. His perfect love for you and me is the key. His perfect love casts out all our fears away and gives us the audacity to pray big, bold prayers. Anything that is beyond our comprehension and capacity to accomplish what we ask for is considered big and bold, no matter how small other people may think it is. We all have different views and positions in life and only ourselves know deep in our hearts if what we are asking is big and bold enough. To one may be 3 square meals a day for his family while the other may be a prayer of provision for a house.
When I saw parts of my house infected with termites, I was alarmed. I was fearful. I prayed for it to be protected. I prayed and cursed the queen of termites to be done away with. I prayed for provision for pest control people to do the job. I prayed for a new way of doing it, apart from its traditional method. I prayed and prayed as long as I could remember until my heart was at rest. One of the “rest” gauges I have is, every time I see an infected and affected area, I couldn’t be moved anymore. Out of my mouth I would just utter words of protection and provision. Yes, I did some termite prevention in the past but it didn’t really annihilate all of them because it was an ancient way of doing it.
While waiting, I believe my patience was stretched and developed. Truly, patience is not the ability to wait but having a good attitude while waiting. I knew that I was heard by our loving Daddy God and I knew as well that He will manifest Himself, but I just didn’t know how and when. Instead of setting my eyes on the damage done, I have refocused my attention into living a good life that He has given us, doing all things for His glory, BY GRACE. There is so much to be thankful for and live for. We focus on His goodness and trust Him that He knows ALL things and He knows when that kairos moment will be.
Lo and Behold, a couple of days ago, I happened to be talking to a friend about termites. She mentioned to me that she knows someone who is knowledgeable in terminating them in a new way. She gave me the agent’s number and insisted to contact him right away to ask for a quotation and schedule it. My mind tilted a little bit knowing that it would be costly due to its modern way of doing it. But God Who is rich in mercy and abounding in love gave me the audacity to ask and yes, it was way past beyond my budget. Sometimes we think that what we have in our possession is all we have until He surprises us with His inexhaustible supply. Once I got the quote and schedule, my friend suddenly told me that she is going to pay for it.
The suddenlies of God are unpredictable. He perfectly catches us by surprise when we least expect it. On the other hand, this has been my prayer for the past years that He heard and is now being answered. With Him, nothing just happens. He is always on a look out for the perfect time and setting for His goodness to manifest before our very eyes all because He loves us and He desires to lavish us with His love.
“The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” (Deuteronomy 28:8)
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You, for always showing Yourself strong before our very eyes that we may see You face to face when divine encounters are set for us to experientially know You. Thank You for Your love, mercy and grace that see us through while waiting for the manifestation of our answered prayers. Patience is indeed a fruit that is birthed from our intimate relationship with You. Holy Spirit, thank You that it is not by might nor by power, but by You alone Who sustain us in the waiting knowing that all things work together for our good. Thank You, Jesus, that You make all things possible. Amen!
