Speak The Word Only

God is a God of integrity.  Whatever He says He will do for He doesn’t violate what He has spoken.  When He says it, surely we can count on it.

His Word is the truth.  His Word is His bond.  Whoever He says He is in His Word, that is Who He is.

God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: has He said, and shall He not do it? or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?  (Numbers 23:19)

The Word of God is the will of God.  If one desires to know His will, dig deep into His Word.  “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5).  For the Word of God is the wisdom of God. (1 Corinthians 1:30)

I love The Passion Translation of James 1:5 that says, “And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and he will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but He will overwhelm your failures with His generous grace.

Truly, the integrity of the Lord is the integrity of His Word.

Yesterday, I got a text message from my friend asking for prayers for the 11 year old daughter of her friend who was to undergo surgery to take out the cyst from her ovary.  In the text she mentioned that the family’s intentions were: that only the cyst will be taken out and not the whole ovary, that the cyst is not cancerous and that it will not recur.

Honestly, my initial reaction was of the flesh. Hmmm … I thought, oh … they were many.  I was caught unaware of this kind of prayer request because in the past it is normally just for one specific thing.

But when my thoughts were redirected into the finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross, it dawned on me that He covered ALL sickness and disease in each one’s body and that is for the whole world and He did it ONCE AND FOR ALL.  When His Word said, “By His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:3), His body bruised and broken SURELY covered the isolation of the cyst from the ovary rendering it powerless and of no effect.  As for the recurring issue, that has been dealt with, too.

“What do you conspire against the Lord?
He will make an utter END OF IT.
Affliction will not rise up a second time.” (Nahum 1:9)

The Holy Spirit explained it further when He said, “Jesus only died ONCE and paid for ALL your sins, sickness and disease, lack and poverty and spiritual separation from Him.  What has been paid for, you are to believe and see it paid.  No more repayment needed therefore recurrence is a dealt issue.  Once you are bought and paid for, there is no turning back.  So, how then can it recur what Jesus declared, “FINISHED!?”

With this revelation, my response catapulted into the heights from an impossibility into nothing is impossible with God.  Oh how the Word of God brings light into how we see and perceive things.  It is indeed the lamp to our feet and the light to our path. (Psalm 119:105)

Psalm 107:28 “He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

Yes, I was at a distance from the person I was praying for and agreeing with those who also prayed, but I so believe and am fully persuaded that His word is not limited to time and space. Just as it will be spoken while we lay hands on the sick they shall recover, so it would be when decreed though physically out of our reach.  His Word is spirit and life.  Surely it will find its way to manifest into the one we are praying for.  We may not know how, but we trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding.  In ALL our ways we acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

When the centurion said, “Speak the Word ONLY and my servant shall be healed.” (Matthew 8:8), that was a powerful demonstration when we give the Word of God the final authority over our lives.  And the outcome? “Jesus said to the centurion, ‘Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.’ And his servant was healed that same hour.” (Matthew 8:13)

Day in and day out we are on the learning process.   His Word gives us a daily progression, line upon line, precept upon precept, revelation upon revelation, from faith to faith, from glory to glory as we submit to what He is speaking.  He daily loads us with benefits causing us to tap into His thoughts and ways as we meditate His word day and night.

We may not know the outcome of our prayers yet, but all I know is that God is committed to fulfill what He has promised in His word. In the process, we are encouraged to guard our hearts with all diligence, for out of it flows the issues of our lives.  We guard it not to allow the whispers and lies of the enemy to steal, kill and destroy the word that was planted in our hearts.  We keep hearing and hearing the Word.  The more we hear, the more faith comes.  The deeper the root of the incorruptible seed goes, the more steadfast we become as the Holy Spirit reveals to us the authority and integrity of God’s word.

The divine living word of God is able to articulate in motion and has it’s own power to perform itself.  The integrity of God’s word never fails to manifest when He sees faith at our end.
